Let's just say the difference in wages is half a million a year and he signs a four year contract. Then after two years he does his cruciate ligament and is never the same player again. He has earned two million more than he would have done with Celtic and he is still 20 years old and finished as a player. Do you think he regrets not playing in the CL or happy that he has enough money to live on for the rest of his life.

But what if he signed with Celtic played with us 2-3 years and was brilliant in European football. He could end up signing with the giants and starting making tons of money.

i cant help feeling angered by stokes decision, why does a man rave on about being a life long celtic fan and then rejects playing for them because of a extra cash. i really am baffled, i'm a young lad too and i would give anything in the world to play for them even if it means less wages infact no wages at all for that matter. these players really are greedy! if not, then the only reason i can see for him rejecting us was that he simple didnt believe he could get a permenant place in the team.

 

Uses are really treating Stokes as if were signing Adriano or something. Move on, we don't need him as badly as you's are going on about him. One good half Season at Falkirk dosen't make you World Class. If he goes down to Charlton and scores another 16 i'll eat my words... But I can't see that happening.

Seriously, everyone here who is getting on this young boy's back needs to take a good look at themselves.

So what if he supports or supported Celtic? He's 18. In his profession, you only get at the most another twenty years out of it. So, he needs to make his money...NOW!

If Celtic offered me eight grand a week, but a team from down south, who even if they do get relegated will be playing in a better league than the SPL in my opinion, offered me 12 grand or 15 grand a week, then i'd go down south. I'm a die-hard Tim, love the Hoops, but in his career he needs to be selfish and let his MIND rule his HEART, not the other way about.

That's the reason why the likes of Dalglish and Macari left us. To get better money and a better lifestyle once they had retired.

So everyone needs to applause this guy for being very sensible in his decision making.

oh and by the way bad example..macari?dalglish? ffs its not the whites and fkn kellys in control of celtics finances now if it was we wouldnt have kept the likes of larsson or signed jvoh or gravesen under the noses of premiership clubs we'd be signing class players like payton,biggins,andrews etc and selling any player worth a penny if the offer came in!.im not personally attacking you here mate as it is your opinion but give our current board so credit they pay a player what he is worth not allowing to be held to ransom...and quite rightly so!

I agree, the guys played 12 first team games for Falkirk.
Would take Gert Muller on a free though...and Juste Fontaine aswell if he's going.

Stokes would have been a weathly man at Celtic too and probably would have made more money than Celtic considering....

Will probably have stayed here longer than he will for Charlton as Chartlon will play in the Chamspionship next plus who buys players from the lower EPL and pays them alot of money

And to make a comment to Johnbhoy67 about the laptop royal csc- I have been to every single one of Celtic games this season (apart from in Lisbon) I believe I reserve the right as every Celtic fan should and be able to critise who ever I want in football

He has not offically signed for charlton yet and if you beleive the papers then keane is about to nick him at the last minute. Ive heard hes a top player but have never actually seen him play, and i Know Celtic were in the running too, so could anyone tell me how could he is, ie is he worth the 2 million we are going to pay.

PS. if he doesnt come to us i want him to sign for celtic

sky sports have a page that says stokes signs for charlton but if you read it properly it just says he is expected to

i will not give up hope till i see it on the charlton website
