I think there were various reasons.

More money, more minutes on the pitch, won't have to move from London where he was already settled with being at Arsenal.

Thought he was meant to be a tim, doesn't sound like it to me, if he signs for that shower of * over us he's yet another money grabbing * with no personal ambition. He will be playing championship football next season, be sure to pass on our regards to Liam Millar (The Last * that made the wrong decision).

If he doesn't sign now * him, in the future when he comes out with the usual pish "I supported Celtic as a boy, they are the only the only club I ever wanted to play for", roughly translated "I'm not as good as I thought I was back then and this is a club that still buys that supported them as a boy pish". :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:

Do you think he would have started regularly at Celtic?

Of course who would keep him out?
Having said that, we need a * STRIKER that can score regular! :87:

On recent form only Jvoh would be ahead of him good chance to make position his, also CL must have been appealing thats not going to happen at Charlton. :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:

Let's hope so, 'cause we badly need a striker. :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:

Strachan would have Hesselink, Zurawski and Miller ahead aways. He'd be fighting it out with Deeks and Beatts for 4th place.

In my opinion although the debate is redundant for he wont be at Celtic, however JVoH is the only one that could keep him out, and even then, and I certainly hope I am wrong, but dont hold your breath as to JVoH having a run of games?

Hesselink is first choice we agree on that. Why are you so sure that Strachan would play two guys who aren't scoring regularly before a guy who is on fire ?

Was at the game today and speculation was rife that stokes was in the stand , Cameras were all gazing up just before KO .......then a guy told us he had heard that he was at CP this morning but had gone back to London to discuss terms with Charlton (silly boy) IMO .........Agent was probably being greedy and we cant compete with Premiership money !!!!

Riordan was top scorer for hibs for 3 season, more consistent player than Zurawski and Miller combined. Yet he spend half the season not even on the bench.

WGS seems to believe that Magic works well off a Targetman (proven today and last season), thats why you saw Jarosik being put up front (but it didnt work out).

That and the fact that Miller and Zurawski were promised first team football to sign, which I highly suspect Stokes wasnt.

The thing is though, he is joining a club staring relegation in the face and the prospect of playing first div football next season doesnt appeal to many..But money will be his only thinking here..Such a talent too

WGS hit the nail on the head here! Oh the sarcasm!

Asked if he was disappointed that Stokes had not chosen to sign for Celtic, the Parkhead boss said: "No, because we know we have good players here.
"Whether it's through the youth team or, hopefully, buying well, the history of the club shows people want to come here and play.
"People want to come here and win championships, play in Europe at the highest level, play in front of 60,000 people and play with good players with the chance of making yourself a legendary figure.
"If you feel you can get that elsewhere, then fair enough."

A good case for not ever guaranteeing anybody 1st team football, they are supposed to be Strikers and if your not scoring goals then you are not doing what you were signed to do. Bit like having a binman who can't empty bins (sorry a refuse technician)

Just in case any PC cretins are online.

GS is giving Stokes something to ponder before he signs on the dotted line.
