Ralston is a recognized right back. What the * does that even mean. The lad is a Celtic man but sorry he is not and never will be even close to good enough to play for us regularly. Is Lee O'Connor really that far off the pace that is was worth giving Ralston a one year deal? I say that in the sense of Lee O'Connor as being the back up at right back not the starter.

It’s not even the act of extending his contract. It’s the optics of the club recently. The support are either apathetic or angry, yet the club plough ahead announcing contracts for colts players and now a guy who has no future at the club.

Is there honestly no one in the boardroom that can see how bad this is coming across and put the * brakes on this *?

Ralston shouldn't be near the 1st team. But as a result of mismanagement, we go into another European Qualifier with him as the only option at right-back currently in the squad. Same position as we were in against Nomme Kalju a few years ago.

    Unreal.

they have put the brakes on.

It’s still mainly under wraps, but I’m hearing they offered him 6 year deal £45k a week.

I'm not even confident in him as a depth option to be honest. Happy for him to prove me wrong but can't see it. He's made no progress over the last few years.

If I were offered a contract I'd sign it too though.

*, was hoping to see the back of him and was relatively happy with the prospect of Lee O'C as our back up option going forward. If he is not good enough to challenge a rank rotten JJK, then there is little hope for him.

We've been forced into that situation really.

If we had the squad he's gone, it's that simple.

Had hope for the lad but he's not good enough

Surely he's only been signed as cover for a further year until Ange can get the squad he wants. As much as I admire his desire and determination when playing he's a very limited player.

The fact we’re going into a CL qualifier with him as RB completely exemplifies the drop in standards and lack of vision over the last few years.

This upcoming qualifier has all the makings of an artmedia result. We will be going into this with one of the worst back 4 lineups to ever play for us

If hes back up and then thats fine by me as long as we get a good first team right back ! Hes not the worst player on the planet and against smaller teams in theleague will be ok ! If i was getting value for money then Would i rather a 5million pound rb with ralston as back up or 2 2.5million pound rbs ! I would take the 5million as on paper tells me its a better player than the 2.5million pound players

The only reason this is happening is so that we don't need to spend the money on 2 RBs this window.

Ultimately, he's not going to play and he's not good enough. I know Ralston wont be on much money but he's definitely steeling a wage here...

Safe to assume Ralston is backup to save money, hopefully that is on buying a proper first choice Rb.

This should, SHOULD, mean any rumours and link to the likes of O'Donnell and put to bed. I just wouldn't be able to understand why we would have two backup right backs instead of getting a first team right back.

    Hopefully that's the case.

And as said above, if so, I would rather this and spend decent money on a new lustig, than spend money on two Ralston/Taylor/odonnel level player.
