Getting pegged and run ragged by some Arsenal under 21? Nah. Final nail in the coffin for me..

 

I didn't watch the highlights tbf, not trying to say he's *'s gift or anything. Just sugggesting we cut him a bit of slack. He's 19, he's still developing his game. Not every player that comes out of the Dev. team is gonna be a Tierney or a Johnston. Some will need a bit more time to prove they are the real deal. Ralston might be one of them.

 

Johnston can’t be called anywhere near a Tierney at this stage

 

His passing was pish. His crossing was pish. He was getting skinned rotten. He was getting caught out of position. He was no outlet attacking wise, where Killie's left back Taylor was more accomplished than him all round..

I had slight hope. After today, I guarantee he'll never make it here..

 

Yeah he's not the answer. Still young, but you can usually tell if someone has something about them.

He's still robotic and rigid on the ball.

 

Aye, had a feeling that may cause confusion. What I meant was, Tierney was an instant hit right off the bat, and Johnston still hasn't quite made the step up, but he's quite obviously special at the level he's at now. He's scoring against very good international youth sides, and by all accounts stood out against other Dev. teams in the UCL youth league (PSG and Bayern he was the best player on the pitch apparently).

To clarify, I just meant that Ralston might not necassarily be the type that really stands out like Tierney or Johnston, or be at that point where he's ready. But he's shown glimpses of it in the past and the club do seem to rate him, so we shouldn't just cut the cord yet.

 

Fair enough. I'm sure Rodgers will be giving him a decent chance this summer through pre season, so we'll be able to get a better idea about him by seeing him play a run of games for Celtic.

 

He'll be sent on loan to the Championship and then released next summer probably, unless we get a buyer late in this window..

 

Signed a new 4.5 year deal in December. Brendan clearly rates him so I highly doubt he’ll be getting released next summer. I personally think he could become a decent squad player in time.

 

That 4 and a half year deal is looking very generous all of a sudden..

 

I wouldn’t say one bad game makes someone a crap player, but I don’t have high hopes for him even disregarding that performance.

 

Never really understood the thinking behind giving him a 4 year deal off the back of a few half decent performances. I'm not willing to rule him out just yet but it's one that puzzled me at the time. His loan spell at DU was a mixed bag as well. Again, I won't write him off yet and I've seen worse starts to a football career for better players.

 

I think it says it all when Lustig has been shocking at times and he gets sent out on loan, I honestly don’t see it with the boy. But doesn’t mean he won’t cut it at another SPL team.

 

Massive fan of Ralston but * me what a shocker he's had in this tournament. Absolute mince.

Johnston is class though. Hopefully he gets a run in the team.

Was very average at best in Championship for those that watched his matches....despite claims from others that he made big difference to Utd team.

As it stands, an average player but given his contract situation he will go out on loan again to monitor his development in regular competitive matches.

Certainly no where near featuring for us, even if just domestic matches.
