Welcome to the forum :50: I hope your right there have been very few players like Roberts who can excite the minute he gets the ball. The last one to come close was probably McGeady. By all accounts it will be mid august at the earliest before we know what the crack is.:celt_2:

In my opinion if Paddy had any intention of coming back to us it would have been done by now. It could be down to us not wanting to pay the asking price for the boy but if we want to show any intent in competing in the champions league we need to invest the extra few million on these players. I personally would want paddy but this waiting till we qualify for champions league to see has bit us in the * before. There has not been a player where so many supporters want the club to sign since i can remember. give something back to fans who have put up with mediocre Celtic teams within the past 5-6 years.

City only came back to training two days ago, Roberts and Rodgers both said he will definitely go back to City for preseason and they'll see what the script is after that. Once Guardiola has assessed where it fits in his plans will decide whether he goes out on loan(either to us or someone else), he gets sold or stays at City.

It's not as if there is any risk in us paying big money for him and him potentially flopping. He has already played for us and shown that he has tremendous talent and is not a flop. No risk involved in this transfer. If we gave Man City £10 million for him we would still be able to sell him on for a profit in the future.

    Very true.

It would be the most risk-free high-transfer fee we'd ever pay.

We know what we're getting with him and he's only going to get better - meaning we'd easily get at least 15m for him if we needed to sell.

A buy back clause is a worry, sure we had to pay a premium with Ntcham to remove it...

That's my point if there was ever a player to spend big on it is him. I'm pretty sure if they spend 8-10 million on paddy and don't bring in anyone else most Celtic supporters would see it as a great transfer window. Celtics problem in the past has been buying in several players at lower prices but adding up to the price of two good quality signings where i think as Supporters would rather have two decent signings than 4 duds and one OK signing.

Never knew his twitter page still had 'on loan at Celtic FC' and a big picture of him and KT.

    It's going to happen :fear:

Just my own thinking ,mate. City usually insert buy back clauses for their youth players eg. Enes Unal...

I know very little of what that entails.

Surely, if that were the case, Celtic would stipulate that they (City) would have to pay the same amount so at the very least we break even?

    Tbh, I'd accept that.

Generally the buy back clause fee is a little higher than the club paid for the player e.g. Unal bought for 12.5m, buy back clause 17m.

Just in regards to Roberts if we do buy him and he plays well, City could buy him back with us making a relatively low profit, in comparison to what we could make.

Unless that is, we pay extra to remove that clause, which I doubt we could afford.
