Some of the £30m should be used to give Ange a bumper new contract.

The problem here is that he's going to win European silverware in a matter of months ;)

Not sure what thread to put this in but just read we've only conceded 2 goals at home in the league so far. That is impressive.

Doesn't quite fit the narrative that's came up in the media a few times, of our defence being leaky. We do have our vulnerabilities like most sides but overall I think the defence have proven they can be relied upon as they've gelled together.

Ange Postecoglou has been named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for January 2022 following his side's impressive return to action following the winter break.

January saw Celtic kick off with a 2-0 home win over Hibernian, and they followed that up league wins over Hearts at Tynecastle (2-1) and Dundee United (1-0) at home. And the Hoops also booked their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 win over Alloa Athletic.

Celtic's impressive league form in 2022 continued in midweek with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Rangers in the Glasgow derby at Paradise, a result that saw the Hoops return to the top of the Premiership table. And now they head to Fir Park this weekend to take on Motherwell.

This award is Ange Postecoglou’s second this season, having also been named as the Glen’s Manager of the Month for October.

And the Celtic manager said: "It’s nice for us to be recognised in this way and we thank the League for this award, but as always it is for us as a collective, including myself, my backroom team and the players.

“It’s a reflection really of the consistency we have all shown, with some great performances home and away in very testing matches.

“As well as our consistency, I have been pleased that we have been playing some exciting football, really the way I want our team to play and in a way which I hope is also attractive to our supporters.

“Obviously, we hope we can continue these levels but we are well aware of the tough challenges ahead.”

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said: “Celtic have had another great month, with Ange Postecoglou leading his side through January undefeated, after starting the year off with a stellar 2-0 performance against Hibs.

"With Celtic now sitting top in the Premiership league table, Ange Postecoglou is a deserving winner of the Glen’s Manager of the Month award. Congratulations to him and his team.”

Celtic return to action this Sunday when they travel through to Fir Park to take on Motherwell, aiming to collect another three points and maintain their winning start to 2022.

And while supporters have continued to revel in the performance and result from Wednesday night’s derby win over Rangers at Paradise, Ange Postecoglou and his players have only been looking ahead and focusing on the 90 minutes this weekend.

It is an approach which has served the squad up to now and it will not change until the final ball has been kicked at the end of this season.

It is why that, regardless of the midweek victory and the fact it has put Celtic top of the Premiership table, there will be no basking in the warm afterglow of the win.

As the Celtic manager has pointed out on numerous occasions, there are no prizes for being top of the table in February.

But what Wednesday night’s win does do is set a new benchmark for his squad to reach and surpass. That’s what he’ll be looking for at Fir Park on Sunday.

"We go through the season trying to continually new benchmarks and try to create new levels for ourselves,” Ange Postecoglou said.

“That’s the constant message, the constant theme. We’ve never set out a clear goal in our mind of what kind of team we want to be. We leave that hanging to see where it takes us.

“But when you set down a marker against a good opponent, it shows you that you can play well at that level and that’s what we should be seeking moving forward and also improving on that.

“I haven’t sensed a change with anyone. Everyone was delighted with how the game went but pretty soon, the players got into recovery mode and we’re getting ready for the next challenge for us.

But, again, that comes back to people. The end goal was never to be on top in February. The end goal is to be on top when it counts, and all Wednesday night did was push us a little bit closer to that goal, but we’re not there yet so there’s nothing there which suggests mindsets should change or approach should change.

“The boost we got was that we got three points, we played well and we’ve given ourselves a chance in the next contest. Beyond that, there’s been nothing which has meant we’ve had to address anything.”

The Celtic squad have come through the derby game unscathed, and so are all available for selection on Sunday, with Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic also both back in the fold.

“We haven’t got here because of one performance or one set of conditions,” said the manager.

'We’ve had to battle our way from the beginning of the season and Sunday will be a tough game away from home.'

“We know that Motherwell are a good side with ambitions to stay top of the table so I’m sure they’re going to test us out, but that’s what we’ve been doing since day one.

“What we did the other night is what we’ve been doing for quite a while now, which is overcome whatever challenge is put before us.”

Perhaps, I'll give you that they're not as bad as portrayed in the media, but it's only now that they're gelling together and looking solid. Most of the cleansheet kudos belongs to Hart in goals. He's really led from the back in that regard, saving us a lot of lost points. Now that the defence is coming together in front of him, we're looking absolutely awesome back there.
