Would contest Pep (at least at City) and Tuchel. Top managers generally find a balance, or they sacrifice short-term success altogether for long-term gain, a la Klopp, as you say. We simply can’t afford to go that route this season.

That doesn’t mean he has to abandon his way of doing things; he just has to refine it.

This ‘we never rest’ thing might sound great as a rallying cry, but if it’s taken to extremes (and we have to hope Ange was exaggerating when he said he didn’t believe in resting/rotating players) then we will pay a hefty price this season.

Fragile much? It’s a football forum: posts about what we think the manager/team/club should do are kind of the lifeblood of things here.

Don’t hear you complaining when we say the board should back Ange.

No it’s not, people are just making stuff up now. He’s almost never had any opportunity to rest or rotate players. The few times he has we’ve struggled.

This situation was predicted when our board signed an inadequate numbers of players and didn’t replace our sports scientist properly. Of course since then we’ve sacked our CEO, but let’s not let facts get in the way of pinning this all on Ange.

Saying our 11 is better than their 11 is something I would expect to hear from a child. They keep 11 men behind the ball which means you need quality in attack. We’re on our third choice attacking trident and our striker is a second choice 19 year old winger.

Being generous it’s like the Huns putting Barker up front with Wright and Hagi either side for several games this season away to packed defences with literally no other attacking players on the bench.

We've all said it for months and we all know the issues.

    Our squad depth is woeful.

That's not on the manager, that's on the club as a whole.
The setup here is atrocious and woefully poor for depth and development of players.
Sure we are going through a rebuild, but the younger and fringe players already here are no where near the level (or readiness) to be able to over come a COVID ridden St Mirren side.

It's on Ange that he's not got the likes of Mikey, Ajeti, Scales, etc though up to speed for games like last night.

As most folk have said all season, vast majority of the faults at this club are on the board, but Ange doesn't get to walk through it without taking some blame.

Someone's mentioned it above as well, you need to be rotating 1-2 at times to get them up to speed (you also need to be training and developing them) for games like this, so we aren't throwing half a squad in to these games cold.

We all get that the style we play now is intense and needs a big squad at their peak to be able to cover for rotation and injuries. But til Ange has those players, he needs to be more pragmatic with what he has currently.

If not, we will continue to drop points.
He will get a bit of a rest from this sort of flack though, not through his doing, but circunstancial he is going to get a 3 week breather brought forward to save our *. Time to recoup players and time to sign a few more.
That's not genius from Ange, that's pure * * luck. Which unfortunately for us last night, is coming a week too late.

I've got faith in Ange, faith in his style and faith that if he gets the players he needs, he will have a squad he can rotate. But he doesn't have it now, not yet, so he needs to be managing the squad better than he is.

To ignore that criticism, is to ignore the requirements of this football club.

Sorry mate but you’re being delusional. It’s not the style of play that’s causing injuries.
He’s always played this style and was constantly fielding full strength teams with Roar and Yokahoma.
The reason 11 players are injured is cause of bad luck. Not from pushing forward and moving the ball around more.
League players are way more prone to injuries and 11 players injured in a team is unheard of in the NRL

Folk going on about resting and rotating, to bring who on?? We don't even have a Quality 1st XI yet... The past few weeks should show you that we don't have the depth to be resting some players and bringing others on? He's said he needs a lot more players before the 1st league game of the season even started.

We have not been able to finish teams off after creating so many chances, because our options are Monty, MJ, Abada & Moffat. Not good enough!

Always happens at celtic. Rumours used to be something to do with the ground below the training surface puts extra strain on players. I say its because many live in flats so walk up too many stairs.

Here BTW, youve thought about this before eh! Get them all in ground floor flats pronto.

I used to work on the Trollies at TESCO back in the day, in my last 6 months there I had moved into a 4th floor flat, Steep as * stairs, I was in agony from that! Using different muscles in your legs constantly on flat ground, then using other to climb up stairs can actually * you.

Hold on, those two could be away for the derby? * that! Ange needs to put the foot down there, no way they should be anywhere other than Glasgow for that.

Seems Ange himself would say different to you and actually acknowledges this happens even at his other clubs and that it is due to the training and style of play, but expects to come out of it in time.

    all are good
Balls are being consistently pumped into the goal area and no one is consistently going to the ball to meet them with purpose. Bitton has missed 2 clear goals in previous games with pathetic headers and he does have the height.

The only decent headed goals we have scored that I can recall this season, have been by Welsh, Kyogo and Abada. We need more of that type of finishing.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has confirmed Celtic WON'T go to a foreign training camp in January.

The Hoops normally head to Dubai - but had looked into a European base for next month.

Postecoglou has revealed that idea has now been shelved amid
rising Covid cases across the UK and beyond.

Asked if he'd ruled out a foreign training camp, he said: "Yeah.

"I just think we will do our work here. It makes sense.

"We have to use our time wisely and we don't want to put unnecessary risk on our players, or the club.

It's valuable time we have to get the team up and ready for the second part of the year.

"I think it makes sense to stay here

Celtic players will get a break before returning to training ahead of the Premiership restart against Hibs on January 17.

Postecoglou told Sky Sports: "We will look at it after St Johnstone and adjust our schedule accordingly after that, now we have certainty.

"We will do some planning and make sure we use the break well.

As i said the other day, still a long way to go.

We didnt expect this to be a title winning season anyway, he's done a great job so far, but January is massive.

There is absolutely no need to panic. Most of us admitted this could take 12-18 months to sort. There will be bumps. Last night was one, mainly because the squad is pish.

To be fair to Ange he has papered over a serious amount of cracks. By all accounts our backroom team is not fit for purpose- particularly based around sports science etc. The Director of Football idea has gone completely quiet. The board still seem rudderless and we have an acting CEO. We are a disgrace behind the scenes. I hate to mention the mutants but look at their structure and when Slippy left within a week Van Bronchorst was in the door. Compares with us left holding our dicks waiting on Eddie Howe and zero structure in place for a new man to walk into. Fair play to Ange for doing so well. One trophy in the bag, European football post Xmas and still in with a chance in the league. No thanks to that shower who even then thought hiring Higgins would be a good idea. Brain dead twats.

Oh yeah, it’s that mystical, evil luck; nothing to do with an overly laborious training regime that’s run our players into the ground.

Two posts in and you’ve mentioned Rugby League from the other side of the world twice. Clearly huge insight into Scottish football. Another drongo for the ignore list. :83:

I think most of us will accept not winning the league, if things are improving, and so far they certainly are.
First cup in the bag, much better football and we can all clearly see where we need investment and improvement in - and it seems Ange can see it and telling us the same thing. So all good.

I expect though, a better second half to the season - players return from injury and new guys in the door, the second half should see us go on a better run again. If we lose out on the league by 2 points or so, I think we would all be gutted, but happy at the progress and glad to see him get the second season for sure.

But we sit 6 points behind just now, if we lose again to the huns and end up losing this league title by double digits, I think a lot more questions should be asked of him. That isn't harsh in my eyes.
