The fact that he needs to self isolate when he arrives is the most celtic thing ever.

cant wait until he signs players who are injured or cup tied.

Well he better find a * way to shorten that to about 6 weeks or he won't be here in 6 months...

I'm also hoping with a better standard of player, coaches, facilities and pretty much everything he's worked with Brisbane or Melbourne or Marinos he might make a go of that..

    I'm hoping for anything mate..

Not that we needed any more evidence, but we got it last week. It’s crystal clear that this board are out to hire a ‘yes man’, let’s see who takes them up on their offer.

It’s either win the league or it’s no good in Scotland. It’s no hard to finish second, but that’s not good enough. You either win league titles or you are out a job at Celtic.

He's on course to qualify for the Asian champions league though :giggle1:

I'd say he'll be out the door within 3 month's but we'll probably keep him in for a laugh for a couple year seeing as we like to drag thing's out..

    * help us :giggle1::90:

If he's not a yes man he wont get the job it's that simple for me. He is getting the coup here not Celtic this will no doubt be the biggest opportunity of his career. Unless there is some radical changes in the boardroom which evidently seems to be as much use as ever he will be a yes man if not he wont last very long. I suppose time will tell

I wonder how many people on here think the J-league is inferior to the Scottish league. I know * all about the J-league other than they seem quite progressive, in so far as pretty much all their teams try to play open fitba. I do know a lot about scottish fitba and I would argue the standard out there is superior.

I dont think it's about the standard but the style, pace, aggressiveness, expectations, atmosphere and presures of Glasgow are miles apart, I mean they don't even belong in the same stratosphere..

And that's not me being a "Euro Snob"..

No one who has been a DoF at a massive football club is going to come to Celtic, DoFs tend to be ex-players anyway.

Just from highlights and clips you can see it’s absolutely miles ahead of the SPFL technically.

As always, it’ll be wether someone can adapt to the intensity and speed of the league.

I know the Scottish league better than I know the J League but what I would say is that the quality across the entire league is higher (J League), in that the bottom teams would test the top teams more than what happens in Scotland.

As for relative quality? Very hard to say, but I would put money on Yokohama easily finishing top 4 in Scotland.

The huge difference between the leagues (as Thailand said) is the pressure and expectation. If the manager doesn't win in Japan he has to commit seppuku. That's luxury compared to what happens in Scotland.

I totally get that mate. I think though the reason I wanted Howe was he was/is a forward thinking type of coach. Maybe someone who would delve into tactics, team shape and style of play. Maybe even make good in game decisions and proper use of subs. So many of our games under Lennon I'd be watching us get absolutely nowhere and waiting for us to mix it up. Maybe go long and try and win any knockdowns or loose balls. Start pinging longshots to maybe force opposition defences out. Maybe play with striker/strikers who want to stay in the box. Maybe this guy will have them ideas. Lennon and Kennedy sure didn't.
Just to clarify I think it's a panic move and I'm not for it. I'm also reluctant to hammer the guy as I know * all about him.

If he's as good as the Aussie posters on here are making out then we've won a watch.

I’m in this * weird loop where I have never wanted a manager to not get the job more in my life and at the same time want the club to hurry up and announce him so that we can get some sort of * closure on the whole thing. With the quarantine and that anaw, get him in the door and get him put to work. Get Maloney in now and let him rip up the footballing department and create a legacy for himself.

Yeah for me Howe was a change of direction, structure and he was ta bring a whole new team of staff. I'm not too bothered about missing out on Howe the manager but more what he could of brought and how it was handled..

I'm still against this appointment too and as you say it's a panic appointment and we could get better and if Kennedy and Laptop stay I can't see anything but failure..

If he is to succeed he's gonna need 100% backing from the board and support.. I'm not sure that's gonna happen..

It’s just a shame that it’s not like we’ve been managerless with nothing to play for since January or that would have been ideal.

Completely agree. Worst case scenario if we’d appointed Ange in January would have been it going * up and us being exactly where we are now and maybe, just maybe, with a realisation from the board that the risky cheap option isn’t the answer.
