:giggle1: Don’t worry the world is not upside down and you aren’t living in our world, the reality is we are all in the Celtic world and us Aussies are guests for now. That’s the power of Celtic being a huge club and hopefully one day we are seen a bit more than guests :ynwacelti HH

Completely agree and I do believe Ange will have a long, successful reign here.

However, we can't be relent on just one man, no matter how good he seemingly is. I know it goes against our board's way of thinking but we should plan for the future...

I actually think the lack of structure helps someone like Ange. He’s got a clean slate to start with. He definitely does things his way.

We've had this debate endlessly so even I'm bored of it, but with the exception of Celtic (and occasionally Sevco and their affiliates) there isn't a bee's * between the A-League and the SPL. Melbourne City would destroy most teams in the SPL and any Australian who tries to tell you different is either blind, hating or sucking your *.

Another thing to remember is that every Australian who comes on here is either a Celtic fan or an Ange fan and therefore interested in Celtic. But they'll all have their own AL (or other) Australian club as well and Oz football politics are complex and bizarre. There are fans who wouldn't rate any player in what some call the plastic league. There are AL fans who hate every other club with a blazing passion. There are fans who hate in particular Melbourne City because they don't like the City Football Group. What I'm getting around to is that there are plenty who'll tell you Jamie MacLaren, who just scored 27 in 24 for Melbourne City, is crap. They have all sorts of reasons for thinking that way but few of them have any basis in objective reality. The man has finally grown into his full talent and is an absolute standout in a league which is more-or-less on par with the SPL - with the exception of Celtic who are an obvious step above.

And even Celtic can get beaten by AL teams. It may have been on a preseason jaunt but it was preseason for the Mariners also and if the SPL was that far above the AL then this story never happens.

P.S. The Mariners had come second last the previous season.

If you get a chance, Youtube Melbourne Victory v Liverpool; played in Melbourne. Just watch the beginning (YNWA); I'd like to think that will be the level of support if Celtic visit (although hopefully it doesn't become a Celtic Dubai experience)!

Coincidentally, Ange was the Victory manager at the time and Rodgers the Liverpool manager.

Melbourne City would not destroy most teams in the SPL. In fact, they would destroy no teams in the SPL. Not saying they wouldn’t beat some teams, but it would be a close contest. There is a reason Maclaren scored 9 in 30 for Hibs, but has 59 in 63 games for Melbourne. The standard of defending in the A-League is atrocious.

I’ve watched plenty of the A-League, the standard is poor. Melbourne would finish bottom half in the SPL.

This is the standard Scottish prejudice against Australian football despite the fact you've had some great Oz players in Britain - even just at Celtic - but nothing convinces you about the comparability of the leagues even when the most obvious evidence is right in your face.

Just in case you missed it the first time I'll post it again...

But FFS, these arguments shouldn't matter. We're all Celtic fans.
