What’s with this new manager after Christmas pish? I’ve seen this creep in to some people’ way of thinking.

Daily Record sensationalist *. Just back the guy. Brendan Rodgers was a purist and an idealist. It can work.

I think Bitton is an absolute * and I hate the sight of the *, but, Rodgers actually made the choice to try him at CB, and it’s actually worked from time to time.

Lennon picked him at CB plenty of times as well so why chat * as if Ange is the first * to throw him in at CB?

A personally 18 or not at present would have the young boy Murray in well before Bitton or Welsh

Rodgers lost to a far worse team away from home in his first European game than that team tonight , thing Rodgers had in his favour was that the Huns were just up and were absolute dug *,

You're right. This an emotional game with highs and lows. The lows being when goals are scored against us. I can't stand even one goal being scored against us, let alone more, even if we do win the game. For me, if Celtic could win each game 3-0 this season I would be a very happy man.

Taylor was on the half way line inside, near to Soro. Soro passed to Taylor, Taylor passed to Forrest on the left wing who moved forward, and passes to Taylor inside who had quickly moved forward up the left channel. He then crossed low to Abada who scored on his second attempt. Nice goal. However if the move had broken down Taylor was way out of position to deal with a counter attack up the right wing. Would have been totally stranded. That is why precise passing and the correct use and occupation of space is vital for both attack, and also just as important - in defence. Ange keeps stressing the need for the team to come up and come back as a group. I hate seeing simple goals scored against us - its deflating man. For the fans and the team also.

Soro is a linch - pin in the side as present with his distribution of the ball but I can not see him playing every game this season . At some point he will get an injury or need to be rested in rotation and will need a worthy replacement in that position.

Bitton to me is more a passing player sitting in deep in the midfield rather than a CB/defender. Needs to be a bit more livelier as well.

I hope he does well of course I do. After watching his first few games I am concerned about the style we will be playing under him. We look vulnerable defensively- which he is known for but I don't want to go through the season seeing 4-2 every week and that looks possible. Added to that a decent European team will hammer us playing that way. Rodgers had a different style based around controlling the game and being patient- recycling the play. Ange plays a very open type of style and with the full backs in particular playing centrally long ball teams or teams with good transitions will make us pay.

The after Christmas comment is based on Ange not being backed properly. We needed a guy to come in and revolutionise us. That was probably going to be Howe. We needed someone to bring in his own coaching team and to also work alongside a DOF. Ange has been shoehorned in, in a panic and is pretty much winging it. One win against a poor Jablonec team doesn't change that. People are talking of a year for him to implement his style. At Celtic you don't get a year to implement style. You either win or you are gone. Celtic isn't about 2nd best nor is it about moral victories.

Said it already I know, but we're gonna hammer some teams this season, but take a few doings too. Defensively we're a shambles, this set up is made for countering teams, a simple hoof up the pitch and we're *. Worrying

    Naaaah.

It'll come good. Needs at least three new FBs though.

It’s very clear that it’s early days and the players are learning the system. Obviously they are picking up the attacking side of the system which created quite a number of overloads resulting in numerous big chances, not all taken unfortunately.

The teething issues are coming from turning over the ball in dangerous areas which is resulting in pressure on the defence to scramble. These turnovers will reduce with time as the players get used to the system and making decisions within the system.

I think we’ll tighten up at the back as the season progresses.

He's gonna tell whoever plays FB, they're actually playing CM. The space is gonna be there regardless, meaning a simple lob over the top, and they're in.

That simple lob will get a lot trickier once the team fully get the system.

The simple lob is what he wants teams to go for because it will happen under pressure and likely go straight to one of our guys.

    In theory.

Well I hope you're right and this simple hoof up the pitch that has caught us out just about every time becomes harder to pull off.
We don't actually have players in the full back positions, everyone is in midfield, so the new FB's better be * rapid and superhuman fit to intercept these balls in to our channels.

Which is why I said (as did every other *) that we need new FBs.

Don't need to be superhuman. Just need to be adequate and part of a team that gets the system.

Reckon we aren't signing anymore until edourd goes.

Balancing the books. We need Lovric and two full backs, and ideally a full time CB to pair with Starfelt, we'll get by with the rest.

Regardless of systems and styles of play, we all knew we need new FBs, this isn't an insight or new information.
The problem is where he's wanting them to play. We're always gonna be vulnerable to simple balls over the top

People who bring the Imps result up tend to forget that it was a two legged affair which we overturned.

I wouldn't care losing 2-0 away to Progres as long as we overturn it in the return leg.

This whole 'the huns weren't good when Rodgers was here' is nonsense. Every year they said they were going to win the league, one time they were right. Yes, today's hun team is considerably better than Warburton or that Portuguese (?) lad but they brought in some players that really should've done better in Scotland and left red faced. Our team was far superior under Rodgers than it was during any time in the 9iar period.
