I disagree entirely. The attributes you need to be a good full back and a good holding midfielder are almost identical, with the exception of crossing.

Physically maybe that’s the case but not technically. Centre mids have better first touches , better with their backs to goal and better at checking their shoulders whilst facing their own goals . So they have to be much more technical and their general awareness is better.

I don't remember seeing any of the inverted full back stuff in this game.

The fullbacks being wildly out of position seemed to be an issue for one of their goals from what I saw, although I will say again, I haven't seen the game in full, so if he dropped the fullbacks cutting in thing, fair play.

My only criticism of his line up was starting Bitton.

I get he's got experience, has had a long tenure at Celtic, all the Israel International caps etc but I would have preferred Welsh in there. I think based on merit Welsh deserves the Jersey more.

Bitton did brilliantly for Furuhashi's goal but I think his lack of pace and overall positional awareness at the back is so problematic. He looks every bit the midfielder shoehorned into a CB when he plays.

Really hope we sign another two CBs.

Julienn is *, I don't know how many games per season we will get out of him so I'd like another two please.

The fact ange is picking Bitton ahead of Welsh worries me in that he hasn’t got a * clue when it come to knowing what is required for a defender

Personally I don't think Welsh is anywhere near good enough or ready for Celtic first team. Bitton on the other hand is utter * mince..He needs reinforcements immediately or this team will do nothing

Welsh is great at intercepting attacking moves. He's our best available defender. Not much, I know. But he must play.

Aye I think Bitton is * garbage, Welsh I think is a squad player at the moment.

Definitely be looking to bring in another two. I think a pacy CB would be nice.

Need to offload some * as well. Too many guys here who won't make it, Ajeti, Barkas, Bolongoli, Bitton, try and get a few million and then free up their wages.

Don't know why he is picking Turnbull over Christie at the moment as Turnbull is really struggling badly or Bitton over Welsh unless it's for height - which Bitton doesn't use

I think he picks bitton over Welsh because he looks tidy on the ball and is good passer which suits anges system in an attacking sense, and as we know that's what he wants to prioritise. I'd pick welsh myself but I can see the reasoning behind picking Nir, I also do not think starting welsh is going to dramatically improve us at the back as hes been rash himself at times. I think only when we get in another top drawer CB to compliment Starflelt and quality fullbacks on either side plus the time needed to gel as a team will we see the team become more composed.

Actually a fair bit worried by what I have seen so far from the new manager. I am far from convinced this style will work for us and some good teams will give us a right doing. I think with a few more additions a pragmatist would be a better bet than Ange who seems very purist in his ideas. Defensively we do need upgrades and reinforcements but I am not sure it would make much difference. The tactics will see us concede a lot of goals. Still would be suprised if we arent looking a new manager after Christmas. He might do a season but can't see it working out longer term. I know its early days but the jury is well and truly out on the style and system we will be using.

He is playing Forrest on the left because Forrest needs game time, Kyogo needs game time and Abada needs game time. I suspect when all 3 are up to speed and used to each others games we will see them interchanging positions much more, but to get there they need to play together to achieve that understanding. I doubt very much Kennedy or Strachan will have any real say in this.

As far as Ralston is concerned, I would hope Ange doesn't need anyone else to tell him that, it should be glaringly obvious. But he wants the team to get used to playing that way, which means playing even the ones he knows will struggle with it until replacements are found. We can only pray that happens sooner rather than later.

I agree; has this guy ever managed before?

Pretty sure that stuff about Ange having previously been an international defender were lies. You should probably give him a call and set him straight.
