    * *! I assumed he'd be OK as long as there was an assistant with the requisite license.

What a * (presuming true). How long before the club issues a statement saying they were never really in negotiations with Ange, it was just media speculation?

It would be the most Celtic thing ever to have months of negotiations with Howe break down then feed the media we've had our eye on this guy for months only for him not to have the correct badges

I don't think anyone wants Ange Postecoglou to fail that would be crazy. It's just such a gamble when we are already deep in the *.

The negativity surrounding the club is the worst I can remember in years because every decision has been wrong now for some time.

You can't blame the fans for this * show it's the board.

If Ange Postecoglou gets the job he will get support from the fans but if it goes wrong it won't be him that feels the wrath of the support it will be the board. We already want change but the decision are baffling even the most gullible of supporters now.

It really doesn’t mean that at all. Read up on him, he’s been coaching since the 90s.

He has qualifications and many years experience. He just doesn’t have them in Europe, big deal easy enough for him to get.

John Kennedy has them, does that mean he’s more qualified, more experienced and good enough to be the next manager?

I doubt any Celtic fan would want any manager to fail but there will be a que as long as the Wall of China of fans saying "I told you so" if he does.

In fairness it does literally mean he is more qualified but I take your point but this if true is just something else that will reflect on the board as amateurish

I'll be the first to admit I knew the square root of * all about the guy until he got linked. Having done some reading up on him I am still very very dubious about him if were to be appointed.

My first concern is that now is not the time for a gamble on someone like this, who has no experience of senior European management. Had we won the ten, got a stable squad on long term contracts and just be changing manager I might be quite excited about a change like this, to see some fresh ideas, but now is not the time to risk it with so much on the line.

My second concern is that his approach appears to be inflexible. It sounds very much to me like Ronny's philosophy, no plan B, just try and do plan A better. That just does not work all the time, especially in European competition, but even in the spfl. You need to be willing to change up formations and style at times to suit the circumstances. *, has he ever managed in a country where it rains the majority of the year and pitches are often muddy as * making passing out from the back suicide at times?

Thirdly he is not going to get time from the supporters. The fans know the importance of this season to the big picture, if he doesn't hit the ground running, and being someone the majority didn't want in the first place, he is going to be under intense pressure very early, and from what i have read he doesn't handle pressure well.

So my thoughts are he could well have been a good fit for us, at some stage, but right now is not that time.

This is Celtic through and through. We've left things football matters to egotistical * accountant with no footballing qualifications. He looks after the finances, himself and board members. The rest is an after thought.

Utter chaos at the club and we're rushing to conclude a deal that sees an unqualified coach appointed, and have Kennedy and Strachan retained as they are.

If anyone thinks this is acceptable, doable or on the right path forward in terms of long term strategy of the club you are deluded. If this was pitched to us in March/April time, every member in here at the time would have laughed at it and said bolt. In football, if you're good enough someone will buy you. If they believe you have what it takes, they'll get you. It's the same with mangers. Why no one has taken a punt on Nage isn't to do with snobbery etc. It's talent, of which there is plenty qualified in Europe already.

It's unacceptable then and unacceptable now.

    This.

These boards have been * ravenous the past two days.

Fans insulting eachother and howling at the moon.

If you display optimism for Posteglocou to do well, then you're a stupid * who is swallowing the boards *.

If your unconvinced, then you're a xenophobic walloper who refuses to accept reality.

The most jarring and unfortunate thing is that do many seem to be so myopic in their distaste for this appointment that they're slavering all over themselves for it to go * up, just for the chance to chime in a good ol' "I told you so".

    Sevcoesque patter.

FEARS have been expressed that Celtic target Ange Postecoglou 'doesn’t hold the relevant qualifications for the post', according to reports.

Postecoglou looks set to take up the Parkhead hotseat after Eddie Howe’s proposed move crumbled last week.

The 55-year-old emerged as the frontrunner with Celts revealing they had reached ‘advanced talks’ with another target.

The former Australia boss was tight-lipped when probed on the link yesterday by media in Japan after he helped current side Yokohama Marinos to a 2-1 victory.

While some reports there also stated it was a ‘done deal’ with the final hurdle being Marinos’ reluctance to let him go without a replacement lined up.

But reports in The Times today say the Greek-born coach does not hold any of the necessary coaching badges to take a role up in Europe.

Despite his 25 years in management, Postecoglou has only spent ten months coaching in the continent, when in the third tier in Greece.

Governing body UEFA say anyone tasked with managing at a top-flight, European club must hold A and B licences, whilst also taking the Pro Licence course.

It shouldn’t stop him being appointed however, with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard not holding all the qualifications when taking over at the club.

Though he had started to take the courses before embarking on life at Ibrox and had them completed within a year.

Postecoglou did little to quash the rumours when asked yesterday, though reaffirmed his commitment to his task at Yokohama.

He said: “Everyone knows me, knows that my focus is always on what’s in front of me.

“I’ve understood there’s some speculation around the future, but I’ve stopped thinking about the what-ifs in the world a long time ago.

It's not a guaranteed thing at all. My motto is to focus on the work that is in front of me.

“My focus the last couple of days has been on making sure we play well today.

“My focus is here (with Marinos). This is the job I’ve got, and I’ve always done that my whole career.

“I’m just focused on the job I have and making sure I do it well — or else other people will decide my future.”

If he has not started any of the courses then we CANNOT appoint him. Gerrard had started them before huns appointed him.

IF we find a loophole and he is appointed, you can guarantee it'll be * Kennedy who's his assistant as he does hold certain licences.

Ffs Celtic, never felt more embarrassed and disconnected from this club.

Hopefully he doesn't have the right badges.

Don't want him whatsoever. Still baffled.
