I know heaps of Scots and they're easy enough to understand one-on-one, but as soon as you're the only non-Scot in the conversation it gets a lot harder.

Fortunately I've read Trainspotting about 20 times so I mostly, eh, ken the spraff masel, likesay...

Im excited by the new era of Ange and his football philosophys. Just worry about trying to play that style against * 11 men cloggers behind the ball, that will get every decision, in the SPFL

Spot on, I don't think Poppa, Arnold, Muscat and co would generate anywhere near the same interest. Different style altogether and for mine, just not close to the same level as Ange.

And whose fault was that !! The board wouldn't back him & underestimated the job he was doing. As soon as Leicester flashed some cash the board couldn't get him out door quick enough. Rodgers didn't pick John * Kennedy ... the board did !
Instead of looking for scape goats .. look within at who is running the club. There is a common theme with Rodgers, Howe & now Ange but the easy path to follow is blame every one else rather than looking in the mirror.
Rodgers didn't do the *, the board did !! Like a cheap hooker on Saturday night

Arnie gets a lot of bad press - mainly from outside Sydney - but he's a masterful coach. One of the most successful in the league (look at what he did with the Mariners!) and was doing a solid job with the NT before Covid hit - * knows where we are now (against decent opposition). He's a lot more tactically adaptable than Ange and the players who've had him as coach worship the ground he walks on.

That said, Ange is a much better fit for Celtic.

He should have seen ou the season If he ever even was a Celtic fan. No fan would do that at a crucial time!! And for what?? Leicester ffs. Like it or not but he used us, and you're right, the board didn't, don't, and haven't done near enough. We should be light years ahead of everything in Scottish fitba

Nah, winning club world cup by November or nothing.
Anything short of that is s disaster and Ange should have to pay for everyone's season ticket and football top paid for.

And this is why so many of us aren't paying attention to the * licking of Ange any more.

No one bar the * licker's are expecting such a run of form, the pressure you guys are putting on Ange is unreal.

Then top that off by the fact we can all see yous are waiting for the first 4-0 victory to do the "told you so, have faith. You're lucky to have our Ange" routine.

Ange has total faith in his own ability but he's not arrogant. Arnold talks like he's Alex Ferguson - his success has been limited to the A league - he failed in Japan and Ange faired much better with the national team.

Ange is a gamble but IMO one worth taking.

I wouldn't want Arnold anywhere near Celtic as either a coach or a person.

I agree. Arnold is a good, versatile coach and adaptable to the situation. He has competent teams but not exciting ones, and they function likes well oiled cogs in a machine. Sydney City was and is a championship team but they bore the * out of me. It is a very hard team to beat and a team that plays it tight all over the park and usually wins 2-0.

Popovic is strict on fitness and discipline and bases his teams on a strong defensive set up. Winning 1-0 is fine in his book. He also was defender in his playing days with the national team and Crystal Palace.

Ange is different. He looks at the game with Brazilian eyes.

You missed the point of the post; but I am not surprised.

As an aside; if you think Ange reads this forum and is feeling pressure as a result, you are more clueless than I thought.

Also in regards to Popovic as coach. In the 2013-2014 season with Western City Wanderers he took them to the final of the 2014 Asian Football Confederation Champions League final over two legs against Al-Hilal, which the Australians duely won in very hot and hostile conditions. This is the equivalent of the UEFA European Cup Final. He was also named 2014 AFC Coach Of The Year.

Ange in 2015 led the national team to the Asian Cup final beating South Korea 2-1 in the final. This is the Asian equivalent of the Euro Nations Cup Final.

Sadly the national media did not make enough of these wins even though both these major wins were magnificent achievements for Australian football. I suspect cultural cringe. If both these coaches, Popovic and Postecoglou, did not have ethnic Croatian and Greek names the response would have been different . British sounding names would have been regarded as more mainstream and marketable to the general public.

In both cases both these significant wins were not given the attention needed to lift the profile of Australian soccer in this country by the powers that be, especially in the halls of the Australian Football Federation.

Considering half the * some folk spew on here in regards to how amazing and super duper awesome Ange is, honestly that was very believable.

I doubt Ange reads this forum, however it wouldn't be unusual for staff members or players to be on fan forums.
And considering again what we are told about Ange, it really wouldn't surprise me if he has taken a look at fan forums at some point.
Do I think he actively checks here every day? Doubt it.
In fact he would likely steer clear of a thread titled with his name to be honest.
But I really wouldn't be surprised if he or others from within the club have snooped on here.

He's probably the pick of the rest (Poppa goes ok too) and a decent coach for mine too but still don't rate him in the same league as Ange for a range of reasons. I actually quite like him (I'll forgive him for being mates with Robbie Slater :)) and from what I've seen and also heard within football circles one of his great strengths is exactly what you've alluded to in that he builds a really strong bond within his squads so they all want to play for each other and him. Hopefully he can keep the NT ticking over and we'll stand up when we meet more of a yardstick soon.

No * licking here but think he'll certainly leave things better than he arrived whenever that happens to be. I'd expect his sides will do a real number on some sides and it will be fantastic watch but then, as someone mentioned earlier, will concede some frustrating goals as they adapt and stick to what he wants playing out from the back etc that will have many supporters calling to "just clear your lines" while Ange keeps barking at them to trust the philosophy whenever possible and show composure.

One thing is for sure, his team will be fit and work hard/press for very long periods and only keep improving as time goes on. Assuming he is there long enough you'll see the best of his sides this time next season as he's had more and more time to implement what he expects so it becomes more natural and weeds out the players that can't cope with it or don't fully buy into it.

In all fairness, it would take some going to leave us in a worse state. The club is probably at its lowest point for almost 30 years.

Considering we play the Scum a few weeks into the season that’s a bit worrying.
