Lets hope that defence holds up well as their defence of statues in George Square! * all over.

Hrustic is easily good enough for Celtic. He's alot better than Rogic at the same age.

I think Ang would love to have Souttar also, but that isn't happening, Stoke rate him a lot higher than Collins and they just sold him to Burnley for €14m. Souttar will get bought by a mid table premier league club for £20m+ in the next 24 months. He was the 3rd highest ranked CB in the championship last year behind Hanley and Kalas. Souttar is 6"7 and 22 years old though.

I'd buy these two well before Ryan, Mooy or Rogic if I was Ang.

    Not one?

You must have missed the season Milos Degenek played under him before moving back to Red Star then.

Yokohama F Marinos were skint, thats why it was such an achievement there.

I'm sure if he could have bought Aaron Mooy for a J-League transfer record he probably would have. Mooy certainly fits his style of play.

I've been on record as saying Mooy is absolutely perfect for Scottish football, his wife is Scottish and he fits Ang's system to a tee.

He's a much better version of Takuya Kida who was Ang's captain and one of the two deep lying central midfielders at YFM.

Degenek was at Yokohama before Ange got the job there. Degenek moved to Red Star while Ange was boss.

I realise he was already there, but he played under Ang in his first season there before being bought back by Red Star.

The premise that no Australian fits in his system because none played under him at YFM is rubbish. YFM couldn't afford most European based Australians.

Mooy would be an absolute brilliant signing for Celtic and would slot straight into one of the two deep lying central midfield positions. I mean he's only won an Asian Cup in the same position under Ang.

Yep I agree they do say it almost every time, but generation appears to be better and better advised, those in Australia choosing to stay and build game time before leaving at the first chance. Those in Europe appear to actually having a crack for a change.
The olyroos side is not the best, Arnold saying they can win it (haha) the problem with that team seems to be those 21+ would've rather sent an u20 team and expose players to international football. That's the last ill say on this.
I'm pretty sure most people (Aussies and scots alike) all agree there is only two Aussie worth talking about and it appears for the first time Ange is very keen on being maty and mooy in. Let's hope it happens they are of the right calibre.

I am sure Ange has broader horizons when casting his net to find players who fit his outlook on football. He knows what Aussie eggs are in his basket to choose from if he needs to. It is a big world out there, there are plenty of players. They need to be 'his fit' and they need to have the right character to be good on the field, in the dressing room, and in public. They also need to be cost effective. Any good manager/coach is 24/7 football. Even before Ange got to Glasgow, months even, he would be aware of players in different countries that would be a good fit for his team. He has good connections everywhere. However given the circumstances, time is not on his side. He will need to cut his cloth accordingly.

Personally I do not believe he will get any Aussie players at this stage. Ryan maybe but no one else. Economically it would make sense to have two as squad members. Aussies train hard, are fit,and can play a rugged game if needed. However it could be seen as nepotism. In Japan he had one Thai, four Brazilians. The rest of the squad were Japanese.

My thinking is he will gradually introduce Celtic Academy players in to the squad as the season progresses . He will have boys playing for Celtic who were once kids watching Celtic with their fathers and family members from the stands.

The power and pride of that emotional connection can not be bought, and is a driving force to play with all your heart till the final whistle.

Souttar has the turning circle of a B Double truck and would never fit the prototype centre back Ange plays with who will need to rush quickly and sweep up counter attacks after the centre half being so high up aka Thiago Martins at Yokohama.

While Ange raved about Mooy in his breakout season at Melbourne City he didn't even pick for the Asian Cup. He wasn't in the squad, Antonis picked ahead of him.

Thought you guys n gals may find this interesting. It’s an Aussie sports podcast by sports journo Mark Howard, called the Howie Games. Here he interviews Ange. It’s a few years back now but still a good insight in to how he ticks. Particularly his approach to coaching and man management. His comments around managing Australia at the world and Asian cup are quite insightful.
If the link doesn’t work look up the pod, it’s episode 12.

Yes Mooy didn’t appear in the winning Asian Cup squad because his break out years were in 2015/16 after the Asian Cup.

Think this one could have legs. Yes it seems a lazy connection, however Mooy’s current personal situation has changed recently and he may be looking past money now.

One season on Chinese wages has probably set him up for life and his 3 seasons in the PL has supplemented well.

As for him meeting the Celtic standard, I’ve watched a lot of his football and I don’t think that will be a problem. Angel’s style won’t be an issue either, has played as a RM and LM in 433 formations. TBH I think his style suits fast football because his thinking is at that level. Definitely won’t be out of place in Europe either.

Mooy wasn't in the Asian Cup squad but made his Oz debut (under Ange) shortly after in the WCQs.

He is an ideal player for Angeball.

As for McGree - if you don't rate him then you obviously haven't seen him in recent times. Just growing into the fullness of his talent now.

We'll leave signing anyone until after the qualifiers. Just so we know what level of player we will need, the cheap option or the bargain bin option. No point wasting money trying to qualify when it might not work after all.

You can't blame us speculating, this being the internet and all...

Personally I've limited my speculations to Ryan and Mooy (proven EPL players loved by Ange) plus Riley McGree who I think is a fabulous player, already in the UK, and would be very cheap.

These are players who would genuinely improve the squad.
