Reports coming out that Big Ange is on the war-path and has warned that there has to be at least 5 pumps with fosters on tap available at all times. Players also won't be able to order food unless they get a side of humus to go with it.

Think you could be right on Tomorrow or Maybe Tuesday. Was out of quarantine on Friday so probably travelled up over the weekend. Yes the game on Tuesday is Hampden so will probably see him at that.

 

That will mean Ross Aloisi, I've heard this rumour too.
Ross' reputation in Australia isn't a great one, he's up there with Muscat but at least Muscat had some technical ability he just chose not to use it that much.
Aloisi is a loose Canon and will get a few cards while on the bench. As for his coaching abilities, I don't actually know.

 

Are they truly talking about Ross Aloisi?

Has a very good reputation as a trainer and inspirer in Oz. Ex hardman type midfielder - very passionate. Said to have a very high football IQ.

 

Any version of this story that I've seen sounds like this guy is pushing himself forward for a role with us. I can't see anything that implies Ange has been involved or even spoken to this guy.

 

I don't think he's worked with Ange before. Although I do have a vague memory he had something to do with the NT at one point. Ange would definitely know him. If Ange does bring an Australian I hope it will be John Hutchinson - really good coach and a footballer's footballer. The sort of guy the team will love while being a bit scared of Ange himself.

 

Thanks for the info - I have seen 3 or 4 articles about Aloisi and they all effectively quote him as saying 'Everyone wants to work with Ange" and "I have spoken to my agent".

I see nothing that even implies that Ange has spoken to him or made any moves - obviously I could be wrong but it just sounds more that he is expressing an interest in joining Ange rather than Ange approaching him.

 

Aloisi would not be a bad appointment (if there's any truth at all to the rumour), but he would be a bit of a surprise.

I keep saying that Ange will probably want at least one (maybe more) of his previous staff plus someone with a deep knowledge of Scottish football. That person to be his own appointment and not someone dumped on him by the board.

 

I could name 10 in Australia that would be better. Ross Aloisi is the kind of guy who poisons a dressing room. Celtic don't need that * now.

 

I've heard good things about him, but Celtic could definitely do better.

Yep - that's why I asked. When I read earlier comments on this topic, I thought there was some evidence to support this. I jumped on-line and found 3 - 4 stories which are all the same quoting Aloisi and saying he's spoken to his agent - big deal.

He clearly doesn't sound like a guy who can keep things quiet so I'd imagine he'd be letting people know if Ange had been in contact.

I can see Ange looking for someone who he knows/trusts and also possibly someone who has experience of UK/SPFL soccer. This guy may know Ange? but I can see no evidence that they ever worked together and he has no UK experience.

Sounds like he was bigging himself up - I hope so - can't see what he would bring to Celtic.
