Bit surprised, there isn't that much anger at him from fans and media..

    Maybe he does survive.

His "* you! I'm the boss" mentality may work with us, and continue to bloom where we are a dominant team, but in the EPL; where the egos are massive, managers are expendable and "big players" are bountiful, his style of management is heavily devalued. I think the fans like it, but it is not likely to go well with the players or possible incoming transfers, many of whom will think they might know more than some "know nothing, flash in the pan, from Down Under".

Personally, I'm amazed he's lasted this long with the return on his risk/reward ratio, in EPL generally and spurs specifically. He'll definitely get the road before Levy when the chips are fully down...

    Standard of opposition, imo.

It’s a style of play that is quite dependent on having a really strong group of players relative to the competition. We saw it first hand here when we played in European competition. There was still an outline of what he was trying to do, but it just seemed naive. Teams would beat the press, play through our midfield, and find themselves running at our backline all day.

I’m not saying spurs need an out and out pragmatist to be successful, but any side with ambitions of winning the premiership, without the strongest squad in the premiership, needs a high degree of tactical flexibility, imo.

He done well last season, finished 5th which was higher than expected. With the right players and a fit squad he will be successful. Considering his injury woes he should have adapted his system until the right players were back

Ah, I'm sorry, mate. Thanks for being the bigger man.

I still don't agree with you about Ange TBH (I honestly think he'd still have made the move if the salaries were reversed); but you're a good guy and you're entitled to your opinion.

Can I explain why I have my POV? I am a middle-aged (47-year-old) man who (a) has no money and owns nothing of value and who (b) has also achieved nothing in his life. While both these things hurt, the second one hurts more. If I get his mindset like I think I do, managing at that elite level will have been his dream for decades and he's worked so hard for so long to make it there. He must have thought he never would make it by the time he hit his 50s. So even if the salaries had been reversed (£5 million a year for Celtic and £2 million a year for Spurs), I still can't imagine him hesitating to take the Spurs job... it's what his whole career has been leading up to.

Yeah that’s what was meaning in my last post - while I think money was a factor, I think he’d have gone to Spurs for the exact same salary as he was on here, without question.

We can be quick to knock these clubs for lack of trophies or history, but I don’t think many modern day players really care that much about trophies in the 60’s, regardless of how impressive the achievement. It’s much more about current standing, and what the clubs ambitions are over the next 1-5 years.

They’re a big club, with financial backing that we can only dream of, and give him a massive global profile. I simply can’t begrudge him for wanting to give it a shot, particularly at his age.

Besides all that, I’m sure you’ve achieved plenty. The vast majority of people will never hit any level of stardom in whatever field they choose to explore. Social media messes with people’s sense of achievement and makes it seem almost exclusively based on wealth and status, whereas for the vast, vast majority of people on earth it should really just be framed as having positive relationships with those around them, and a general sense of doing the right thing where they can.

His tactics are great when you are head and shoulders above the rest, but doing plan A better was never going to work in the EPL when you have numerous teams far better than yours and another good few on your level.

Was only a matter of time before teams with capable players sussed him out and hurt his team.

Don't think I've loved a manager as much since MON and now I cannot stand the guy with the way he left.

P45 due anytime...reap what you sow!

To be fair, I think the general consensus amongst Spurs fans is that things need to change above Ange’s head, ie with Daniel Levy who has been there for 24 years. According to two Spurs fans I know anyway, most fans still back Ange.

Ange shoots straight and usually hits the target aimed at. Fans and media like that, so it buys him breathing space. It also helps that he's a funny, likeable guy. It won't save him though. Not in that league... He'll die on the manager's cross to save the directors, as usual...

When every manager is failing, there has to be something else doesn't there.

    Let's look at recent managers
Villas Boas 12-13, won league and EL with Porto before, won Russian league after. Good first season with Spurs, second went down hill.

Pochetino 14-19: Won Ligue 1 after. Had some good seasons but it started to fall apart at the end. He probably had a big advantage with one of the best strikers in the world during his prime.
Mourinho 19-21: Won 8 leagues and 4 European trophies prior, won EL since and could win Turkish league this season. Again started well but it dipped the following season. Still finished 7th though.

Nuno 21: Promoted Wolves, had them playing good football in PL on a comparatively low budget. Since won Saudi league and has Forrest competing for top 4.

Conte 21-23: 5 top flights prior, could add to that this season. Good first season, got them to CL. Second season got to last 16 but league results dipped.

Ange 23-24: Won league in 3 different countries, won Asia Cup prior. Again decent first season, second season dipped in form.

Every season you see poor recruitment. Some good signings each season, like Maddison last season, Solanke this season. Overall it's surrounded by millions on poor signings.

    Weird one.

Cup form has actually been decent and he could still get them a trophy this season. Perhaps why they aren't changing things.

Said before though, too one dimensional for down there. It's naive to play the way he does against some of those sides.
