Their fans want him gone albeit they know he's not the main reason of their issues

You said “There's zero evidence that he moved to Spurs formoney.”

I’m simply saying money would’ve factored into his decision.

He’s likely to be gone now anyway, and it’s fully warranted.

Maybe Brendan could find him a place on our coaching staff? Obviously not the set piece coach :fear:

True but the expectation levels at those clubs would afford him the sort of results he's had, plus Leeds in the championship would've suited him down to the ground. Passionate fan base, sleeping giant, needed a rebuild. Sort of job he's previously succeeded in. His style is similar to Bielsa in terms of attacking football and not so much emphasis on defence.

Spurs are a decent football club with delusions of grandeur. The tinpot mentality of the fans and lack of ambition by the board totally clash with his philosophy imo.

You might simply be saying that now (and I can't disagree with that); but it isn't all you were saying in the post I replied to, which I have already quoted.

    Why exactly is that pedantic?

Yeah I’m just checking out of this one :giggle1:

Anyway, don’t think Ange will hang on much longer. Reckon his next job will be overseas, and probably still a very good one.

Checking out? From my point of view, you've done nothing but muddy the waters in this whole discussion rather than just admitting that one of the things you said in your post was wrong (which shouldn't be a big deal) and now you are taking the moral high ground and checking out?

That genuinely leaves me feeling quite angry. I don't think you've treated me fairly here.

Ah c’mon mate, I’m being a bit cheeky admittedly, but just having a laugh :50:

I wasn’t actually targeting you with my original post btw, more just a general statement that money matters to people even when they have a lot of it. All else equal, as much of a basket case as Tottenham are, they’re still a big job, in a massive league, and he’d likely have taken it even if he wasn’t offered a penny more. I don’t begrudge him that move at all, and think I’ve fans can be a bit unrealistic on saying that he shouldn’t have taken it.

It isn’t like losing our top players to Southampton or Norwich - clubs like Spurs and Arsenal and big, big clubs, with proper financial backing and ambitions to dine at the top table. I can absolutely get why people would look at them as attractive propositions.

You're not allowed to move on until you spurt your sauce for this, Ziggy. Or admit that it's forum scat.

His cup record is obviously keeping him in a job, but he's clinging on by his fingertips. Unlike a lot of mangers that get the bullet in that league I can't see his specific and unflinching style of play getting him many more jobs down there, especially when it's the relegation fodder that's calling.

This is usually the beginning of the end, Levy doesn’t take well to that.

That banner the Spurs fans had…
“24 YEARS, 16 MANAGERS, 1 TROPHY. TIME FOR CHANGE”

Going by those stats I think change is their problem, 16 managers in 24 years?! Maybe they should stick by one of them, they’ve had some of the world’s best over the years and yet the buck somehow always ends with the manager when that clearly isn’t the issue.

It really begs the question, how could our team manage to play his style of football when our players are being paid peanuts compared to Spurs? It’s obviously not the quality of players, he’s had a massive upgrade in that department. Yet he’s struggling more than ever to even get a style of play across, something he’s never struggled with whether he got the result or not.

Next to Man Utd, Spurs have to be the worst run club in the league.

Their transfer records are shockingly poor. Make it look like they spend money, but like Utd just spend so poorly

Heard someone on radio, can't mind who it is, but agree.

It's alright doing it at Celtic as that style of play only gets you so far, but when your aren't at the top of the tree, 1 single tactic ain't gonna keep pulling you through.

Whilst it was exciting football (at first) having one style ain't enough, especially in a tougher league. We seen it in Europe we were defensively terrible and saw the difference.

Whilst he's got a great philosophy he's a limited manager and for me probably the worst defensive coach I can ever recall at Celtic.

He wouldn't have got us through that group, no way would we have went to Atalanta and got a result with him at the helm.
