I don't see it as being that simple TBH. Don't forget selling a world-class striker in his prime for £85 million and another world-class striker losing a bit of pace due to age. I think the answer Rubin Amorim gave on sticking to his principles also applies to Ange. https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/ruben-amorim-says-he-will-not-change-his-ideas-and-methods Ange understands football better than all these pundits (many of whom failed in management) and will have thought all this through carefully and in far more detail than them before making his decisions about how to play.

I don't think we have to overthink this. If we had both CBs, a GK and a FB out and were playing a back 4 of Ralston, Welsh, an 18-year-old prospect and Taylor as our back 4 with Bain behind them, we'd struggle too. Any team would. I've seen us struggle before just because CCV was missing, never mind all that! He needs key players back. If he can hang in there till he gets players back, he'll turn it round.

Hold on a minute though. It wouldn’t be like us playing Welsh. He spent £27m on Dragusin. So it would be like us signing a new centre half and having Dane Murray beside him. Also, it wouldn’t be us having Ralston either, because Porro has been playing regularly. So it would be like us having back 4 of Johnston, Murray, (new signing) and Valle, with Sinisalo in goals as Forster was playing regularly until his recent injury. Even with the injuries, they should still be sitting better than 14th in the league. They are underperforming, and Ange’s tactics are playing a big part in that as he is getting them exposed massively.

Ange said in an interview that he was missing both CBs a FB and a GK, hence Ralston. I chose RB over LB because Valle is arguably not a downgrade on Taylor. OK, if you're not having Welsh, swap Welsh for Nawrocki. It really doesn't make any difference to my point: we'd struggle big time.

Dragusin was a new signing and one they spent £27m on. A signing that looks pretty poor in all honesty. Which is on Ange. The main point here is that Ange has Spurs performing well below the levels they should be, that’s the long and short of it.

The context is mitigating, to an extent. Spurs had a similar defensive crisis last winter — no available centrebacks at all. They were forced to buy in January. Dragusin was the best of the available options, but you're right: he's a poor fit. But Spurs couldn't not buy someone, despite a lack of effective options.

Ange has a defensive crisis then he needs to swallow his pride and change tactics. Can't play open aw he likes.

27m for Dragusin was a waste but they could have gotten better for less. So he wasn't the best thing that they could get i just think Spurs can't recruit for *.

That Konsky cost £12.5m, imagine if we could get a third choice in for that?

Truth is they spent about £80m on kids in the summer. Buy youth fine, but you need experience to improve too.

I'd say that Nawrocki is a pretty exact equivalent. He's a signing Rodgers (supposedly) made for a lot of money (for us at that time) who seems to be a good player who just doesn't have the necessary attributes to play the manager's system.

Your last sentence is just a restatement of your opinion and so doesn't need a response.

You say it’s my opinion. So do you disagree with it and feel he has them performing well and where they should be? Because that's really what this all boils down to.

He should definitely be doing better. He hasn't had these injuries all season, they were dropping points for fun at the start too.

The recruitment at Spurs has been shocking but he still needs to be pragmatic.
