I think that’s a fair and balanced take of everything. Be more than happy to say he wasn’t good enough if he gets binned off and he shouldn’t complain if there’s no sign of improvement after a season. Personally I think improvements will start to show before Xmas when we beat the Huns.

Starting to get more worried that Ange doesnt actually know who his background staff is going to be, i feel one of two situations will happen he will stick with Kennedy and Strachan untill the season after next if he stays in the job that long, or he will bring in a few Australian names that we have all heard of example a tim Cahill or a harry Kewell as the friends act all over again, as every day goes by and the more time i have think about it the more i have a real bad gut feeling

That's a brilliant point. Ange won't have q massive say anyway on players and will have players threw at him the same way even Rodgers did. What a shambles we are, when we are hoping for an even more patchwork team for the CL qualifiers than usual, and that's the best we can hope for.

Yet everyone wants a director of football yet moans that players get thrown onto managers? Isn't that exactly what a director of football does? No we want a manager to choose every single thing apparently, but still have a director of football. Cant have it both ways. * the snake.

No, a director of football works with the manager to identify areas that need strengthening and with the scouting team to get candidates then with the manager to see which ones would be the best fit in our price range and agents and other clubs to get the deals done. They would also be working with the youth coaches about bringing in young players. Would you prefer the manager to be wasting coaching time doing all that?

A proper DoF doesn't just bring in players for the sake of it, they would be bringing in players that can have an impact now and have a potential for selling on later, or with a view to replacing a player thats contract is coming to an end, or we are considering selling. You know, the long term view, planning ahead. Things that have been sadly lacking of late.

I think most people are lost feeling and not sure what they want, they just want some competency shown.
I don't have hate for Rodgers. The way we are being shown to be run(incredibly poorly) makes me understand why he'd jump at the 1st chance. Guys a very strange individual but an excellent, elite level manager who I wish we had just now.

the celtic manager role is such a micro managed position now that it may be the reason they are desperatly chasing a 55 year old whos won 3 titles(?) in all his time .cant choose the players to buy ,cant choose the coaches and when lennon was talking about 3 way zoom call when things were going * up and peter and dermot were giving their opinion, player selection and tactics may even be influenced.
maybe you have look to the other side of the world in obscure football leagues to find someone willing to work in thoes conditions
.also gordon strachan is a grade a * kissing yes man talking about the prospect of this guy as exciting when its anything but

in his current job he kept japanese backroom staff for the connection between management and players but he always had 1 or 2 of his own staff , wreckon it will be the same with us where he will bring 1 or 2 with him but keep a few around

I have been praising Ange's achievements, strong character, man management, attention to detail, clear match strategy, lack of media fear etc, and waved aside such trivial matters as the massive, suffocating expectation of Celtic fans. But on reflection there is one aspect to managing Celtic that I suspect he's never had to deal with...

All Australian league teams he managed were small groups - underfunded or salary capped - and very grateful to be there. Accordingly, it was simple enough to build a siege mentality or at least a very strong sense of brotherhood that bound the lads together, with no elite players seen as privileged - or separate - or beyond the horizon of the lesser names. All for one and one for all.

Same goes for his NT selections. They were all desperate to be there and paid the same (not that they were there for the money).

Japan was similar-ish... he had a substantially bigger budget in Japan but there is an aspect of Japanese culture that tends to put the collective above the individual. No Sparkling Saki Charlies.

European football is different. Very different - the way players are paid and teams are put together. It's well documented that players (and their agents) in Europe are way more cynical - every man for themselves despite the occasional lip service and badge kissing. I don't think Ange will have dealt with this before. Which means it will be significantly harder for him to create the sort of group mindset that has always served him so well.

Maybe he'll already know that? If not he'll soon work it out. Accordingly, I reckon he'll want to bring in as many players as he can to put his own stamp on their selection, and will probably focus on youth where there might still be a little bit of altruism and idealism. He might also be looking for some genuine Celtic fans among the youth players to make his One Team message easier to get across.

But that - the cynical insulation of professionals from each other - is the one aspect of the job that will be totally alien to him. And exactly the point of leverage that agents may seek to exploit to put pressure on him, if that suits their broader strategies.

    * leeches.

What's the latest on this then? He takes charge of his game the morn and then he flies into the country to start the quarantine?

Any good players from the Japanese league we could be looking at. There must be some gems in there that big Agnes is familiar with.

Utd become the 16th #SPFL club to appoint a new manager/head coach since Neil Lennon left Celtic.

The Celtic Park hot seat is now the last remaining vacancy to be filled across the 4 divisions.

I will "back" him if he is the man in the door. My frustration at this stage and going forward is at the board, not at Ange.
Same as with Deila, we can not fault the man for getting a great opportunity.

But the more "research" I do in to the guy, the more I see stats like this:
    upload_2021-6-8_12-13-44.png

And I just stop in disbelief at how poor these stats are.

In one season at Melbourne he used 38 different players? That's unreal! 49 over two years at Brisbane as well.
Sorry, but we do NOT have the time for a guy to come in and be changing the squad every 30minutes in a game! He needs to understand his squad the moment he lands here, in fact he needs to know this squad 5 months ago! He needs to know the players he is bringing in and how they are going to operate in his style. This isn't going to be all his fault coming in to this club so late, but his record by those numbers doesn't suggest to me like he is the sort of guy who is about to come in, find his starting 11 and stick by it. Looks like he struggles to get a settled 11. Which is confirmed by the fact he is getting so little PPG and his win ratio is less than 50% in nearly all his jobs. Yet folk are still telling us he has a winning mentality and team - sorry but if he is winning titles with these sort of figures, it is not because he is so good, but more that the level of the leagues is so * poor. They are all clearly able to take points off each other, no one able to actually cement themselves as top club.

Looking at the past winners of the two leagues as well:

    upload_2021-6-8_12-17-46.png

    upload_2021-6-8_12-18-18.png

In the last 20 years of both leagues at least 8 different teams have won each league.

Now on paper this may sound like a competitive league, but combined with the fact that Ange is winning some titles in these leagues with such poor PPG and Win Ratio, suggests more that the standard is very poor and again no one club is able to actually cement themselves as top club.

His A-League title seems to have been 10 years ago as well, a lot has went on in football in those 10 years - Just ask Lennon. That title win saw 18 wins and 11 draws, mental stats that he would not get away with here, I am sorry to say.
His J-League title was won while having 8 defeats as well, again no chance he gets away with those stats. His season before his J-League win he recorded 17 defeats!!! Where they came mid table. It seems to be that the clubs in the "top half" of these leagues are all regularly coming in various positions every other season. No one club remains steady - not while winning at least.

Again, this is not Ange fault if he comes to this club. I really do not fault him for taking the job with it being offered to him on a plate. But by * we should not be chasing after this guy in any shape.

There is nothing about his CV that says he is capable of taking on this job.
