Genuinely can’t believe the Muscat thing is happening. Talk about trying to get the fans onside.

Journalist Andy Maher told SEN : “I have it on very good authority that Ange Postecoglou will coach his team (Yokohama F. Marinos) on Wednesday night in the Emperor’s Cup against Honda and that will be last time that he coaches in Japan.

“I am told reliably that he will be on a plane that night via Athens heading to Glasgow and will be announced as the Celtic coach thereafter upon arrival.

“That is what I’m being reliably informed. Further to that, there is a very good chance, so I’m informed, that Kevin Muscat might be his second-in-command. We may wake up to that news on Thursday morning.”

Right now is as bad a time as it gets to take a gamble. We simply have to get this appointment right or it could set us back massively. The league winner is guaranteed the Champions League windfall as well. If ever there was a time to push the boat out in terms of a new manager it is now, because if they can win us the league, then they have more than paid for themselves with the cash that will follow. The problem is, our current board like to play Russian Roulette with Champions League. We see it every year when we go into qualifiers having brought in nobody to freshen the squad up.

The best time to gamble on a new manager was when Deila got the job. All we had to beat was Aberdeen to win the league. However, even at that, at least back the guy in the transfer window to give him a fighting chance of succeeding. The board didn't do that either. Deila was working with one arm tied behind his back. He was not given the correct backing, which in turn, could have cost us the best part of £50m as we lost out to Maribor and Malmo. Two teams that we should have been taking care of, and we probably would have if the board had backed Deila. The lack of ambition from the current board has cost us a fortune over the years.

Is using contacts counted as nepotism now? Because then absolutely everything is nepotism then

I genuinely don't care if it's Muscat or not as long as he brings in his own team. If Muscat is brought in it will be because Postecoglou trusts him and that's a good sign.

He played for the old Rangers but that clubs dead now and any affiliation to the newco is non-existant. It's not like he was brought up singing the sash and going down the local lodge.

I wouldnt take Andy Maher or anything on SEN as gospel, i don't think they know that Celtic isn't a basketball team. That station barely even recognises any other sport exists other than Aussie Rules.

I'd say its a terrible season. The only year in over a decade we've had a chance of automatic qualification to the champions league. Infact any other year but this year would have been a better choice :56:

Its nepotistic when all decisions are based primarily on the business first, everything else afterwards attitude/actions. Actions that suit the board first. For the few elitist, entitled only. Not the football side or the fans.

    Not that hard to follow.

Edit: examples include hiring Lennon. Using lawells family and connection to find Ange. DD wanting to hire Keane.

The whole problem with that argument is that every business decision is based on these types of relationships. I do agree we don't want jobs for the boys. It should always be based on merit but I think appointing Postecoglou isn't a job for the boys appointment.

He's been recommended but he's got no connection to the club which I think is what's needed. A fresh pair of eyes with no loyalty to anyone.

We shouldn't need to use contacts to find a manager. That's basically accepting that your recruitment is completely inept.

A local Subway shop wouldn't hire a manager through contacts.

Why are we - a massive club - asking for hauners on who to hire?

After the absolute mess of last season and the leaks through media stooges that we are looking to modernise our processes, we are now seeing a continuation of the chaos that caused last season. There's no root and branch reform, no independent recruitment, no urgency, no backroom infrastructure in place.

In the event that Ange turns out to be a success it won't be testament to a thorough & comprehensive recruitment process at our club and will be more to do with luck. How any Celtic fan thinks that's acceptable, I don't know.

But our recruitment guys would have contacts as well? And they’d be using the contacts?

Yeah I agree. Not up there with the Lennon appointment or wanting to hire Keane. But when all else fails, we just revert back to same ol same old. Angebis different that he zero connection to the club but the pond from which we seem to.fish from.is small i.e DD golf/Irish connection or Lawells family/City group connection.

    Would they? :43:

I don't think that's how headhunting a manager usually goes.

Part of it will be inviting applications from interested candidates and others will be profiling possible recruits that are at other clubs, then whittling through the best, realistic options out of those.

If we're at the stage of contacting 3rd party recruitment consultancies with "Emdy want a joab? Lol x" then we're even more in the mire than most think.

100% mate, you know people in the football world and get in there early when whispers start about people wanting a move or clauses in contracts. Might be a friendly agent giving you a tip off or a guy you played with or a mate from when you first started out.

These guys have their own network of people to rely on.

Its naivety to think clubs don't use contacts in recruitment.

Hire a manager in the shower.
    * the ten.
Tell the fans they are entitled
Tell the fans their voice is worthless
Lock the fans out of their stadium
Go on a trip to Dubai during a pandemic, with severe consequences
Fail to sack a failing manager
Fail to hire an adequate manager in 90 days, for Howe to then knock us back.
Fail to hire a manager in over 100 days.
Only manager considering us is from a different side of the world, with no experience in Europe and not even the right badges to work here.
(suggested) hiring of ex hun Muscat.

At what point do the rest of the happy clappers say enough is enough?

I´d guess that every time there´s a vacancy re the Celtic managers job, a number of potential names let their interest be known. I also guess that those names have quickly been disregarded now, as well as the time Lennon got the job last time. This time, it was Howe all the way, even though the process was far from straightforward. Last time, it was always going to be Lennon again, no matter what.

No plan B whatsoever, as is clear for all to see. What to do? Call City group, because we need a manager.
Incredible how badly this mess reflects on those in power.

If you are happy to renew at this point, then in my opinion, you are part of the problem. If we as a fan base do not do anything about what is happening just now at the club with these charlatans in charge and continue to fork out, then we deserve everything we get.
