I'm expecting a win. We have an almost full quota of players back and available for selection, including Dembele and Boyata. We are now into the second year of Brendan's masterplan. We should be beating teams like Anderlecht given their form volatility and instability,if we are to show any measurable signs of progress. Anything less will feel like an anti climax now.

 

A draw away and a win at home v Anderlecht would be perfect..
They are seeded above us for a reason we have no right to go there and win..

He was right though to the standard we've set it wasn't the greatest performance from us and that was them 100% full out
Which isn't a bad thing when you're still miles ahead

 

Tonight's game is important.

The only aspect we can hope to improve from last season is to finish 3rd and stay in European football after Christmas.

That makes this game the barometer.

I think Brendan Rogers main drive comes from developing and improving players. The main way for us to do that is to play quality opposition in Europe.

Then, if we can hold on to our best players and strengthen the squad, a last 16 Champions League place might be possible. What's more likely is we'll sell our better players and continue the recent trends and cycles of previous years.

 

A know that mate,Belgian players much higher standard company, hazard, de bruyne, lakaku, origi hazard brother alderweild etc etc but obviously none of them in Belgian league what a mean is Anderlecht, do they have any international players?

 

To anyone complaining about our previous performance against the Huns at the weekend...

We weren't at our best, but we had the same amount of chances and shots at goal as the 5-1 game at Ibrox last year. Perhaps our finishing wasn't as clinical, but we dominated the game. It's really clutching at straws to complain about a clean sheet and 2-0 victory playing away from home against your rivals.

 

Anderlecht are favourites, we need all 11 of our players to play at their best for any chance of a win.

 

This will be a tough game. Although they're currently 7th in the Belgian league, with 12 points from 8 games, they are the reigning champions (and for what it's worth, ranked about 20 places above us in the UEFA coefficient); so they're no mugs.

Dendoncker is useful in midfield, but I don't believe they carry much threat up front, and I think we could get some reward if Paddy Roberts can get isolated against their left back, Deschact, who is now in his late 30's and lost his pace (assuming they play a flat back four as per their domestic league games, rather than the five at the back they played against Bayern).

However, don't for a minute believe it will be easy, because I'm sure there are Anderlecht fans, on their message boards, pointing out how Tierney is class, and that Roberts up front is lively; but if they can attack down their left wing and run at the Celtic centre backs etc etc

I fully expect us to turn in a better performance then the one did against sevco.

We didn't even try in that and imo the players purposely did that with this game in mind.

What I'm expecting is an improvement on the defence display but effectively how we played against city in both 3-3 games, that level of performance as the barest of bald * * should get us a draw, possibly a scrappy but well deserved 2-1 win

 

Good point mate, think people expect too much, was actually quite a number of Huns walked away from the Poundland on Saturday weemoan to the mates but actually obviously not happy but fairly content it was only 0-2
