His two assists at the start of the cup final certainly made it a far more comfortable game than it could have been as it completely took the wind out of Hibs sails.

Yeh considering he was left out for how long and through injury... Before that he was top assisted in the spl I actually think he still holds the record for most assisted goals

did i click on the stokes thread?

Balde scored today and lennons twitter interview said how he bullied the defence. Never seen it myself but sounds promising.

    Delighted he scored today.

I didn't see it either but pre game that was one of the things I was hoping for.

His goal was * tbf but good to see him at least score early on in his career.
I was - am - very worried that he would be another Bangura.
There seem to be a number of African players who have that exact same style, gangly and awkward looking, equally capable of dribbling round 5 men and knocking it out of play, first touch that ranges from sublime to *. Not surprised he mentioned Adebayor in his first press conf as he is the archetype of that.... type!

But Balde's scored early on, unlike Bangura, which I hope is a positive thing.

How can you compare Balde to Stokes? Lennon signed Balde as a targetman for long balls to knock down to Stokes. With Lennon playing a front 3, it will look something like: Balde, Commons, Stokes. I don't expect him to score many goals, just assist Stokes.

Stokes doesn't fit full stop. I wouldn't know where to play him in a front three unless we were up against the SPL clubs where you could play him in * midfield and he'd still do a job.

He has no pace at all.

I always thought he fit in the Hooper poacher mold. Lennon will most likely only use the 4-3-3 in SPL though, so we should be fine.

I'm glad big Balde managed to score, can only help his confidence....even if it was an absolute scuffler.:56: They all count at the end of the day!

Several years from now Amido will be as successful in Scotland as Chris Killen and if I am wrong then I will delete this comment so there will be no proof of its existence but in all seriousness I hope he proves the majority of us on here wrong!

Guys got a great first touch, holds up the ball well and can run with it too. His goal was pretty crap to be fair but a goal is a goal.
Didn't see him win one header though which was disappointing

Stokes is a good player. But I don't see him as a central striker through the middle. He lacks the upper body strength to hold onto the ball. He prefers to flick the ball onto another player with his first touch. Against SPL opposition it looks magic but against higher standard teams they can just snuff it out. Hooper is/was a magic front man for us because he has a big upper body frame. I remember against spartak at home when he put that big african striker on his * as a prime example.
