    Vitória Guimarães president Julio Mendes has arrived in Glasgow this afternoon to finalise Amido Balde's transfer to Celtic.

    Looks like we might finally get our man, taking it's time but looks like it's time to finalise it and hopefully an unveiling on Friday if things are going ok.

    way off topic but as a middle distance runner for 8 years, this stuff is in my wheel house.

    West Africans have produced several good sprinters with one Nigerian born 100m runner snagging a medal for portugal a few olympics back (2004 i think). The big difference between the island nation populations and the US is the big focus on sprinting and funding available. Many of the island nations send their talent into the US collegiate system which is extremely well funded compared to West Africa.

    The eugenics thing has been widely debunked by geneticists who have considered it.

    Kenya has an above average team of 400m runners. Rudisha, the 800m olympic champ and fastest 800m runner ever by a good margin, could be decently competitive (definitely not dominant though) in the 400 on the international stage.

    Kenyans vary greatly in build and body type often depending on what ethnic group they're from. Kalenjin tribes produce most distance runners while Rudisha is Masai who are often taller.
