    Wanyama

    Hooper Samaras

Zaluska, Matthews, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Commons, Stokes, Griffiths.

Thats the calibre of team who'd have challenged for Last 16 Qualification every season. Only really Forrest and Samaras are the weaker links if they were Moravcik and Sutton we'd be laughing but atleast they had pace and ability to beat men.

Sad that out that Wilson, Wanyama, Ledley, Hooper and Samaras have left and Forrest is permanantly injured. The only ones of them who have been adequitley replaced are Wilson as Ambrose comes in and Ledley as we have Johansen now, although Ledley and Wilson for me were slightly better.

Wilson was a better defender, ambrose a better ball player
But to me the most important part of a good defence is not good players but a good partnership and efe and virgil is so much better together than wilson and efe so id rather see efe playing but I do wonder if wilson and virgil would have been better

If Wilson was playing like he did in his last season, 100% Wilson. POTY that season for me.

I bet he'd be savage craic at the jiving. The two of us could throw out my 'mad priest' dance move. You'd be welcome to complement it with the oul spaghetti legs routine if ye fancied, Vert :celt_2:

Efe 'cause he's from Nigeria and he's never complained about being homesick. Even got a flight over and played after winning African Nations Cup. Guy's where it's * at, unlike Wilson who apparently couldn't cope with being so far away from Nottingham. Robin Hood is a myth and so is Kelvin Wilson.

To be fair though once you're over 60 mile away it could be Aberdeen or Istanbul or Tokyo or anywhere as you're not going to be able to live there really(in any sort of comfort anyway as you'd need to travel 1 hour plus to and from training daily.

I doubt that team would have do much better in the champions league, id be more confident of us doing well but the reality is that team is not better than any of the pot 2 teams and most pot 3 teams would beat that team the way lennon had the team playing in his first group stage is the only way we will succeed in the champions league anymore

Same culture, food, lifestyle etc... Efe's from Africa and joined after playing in Israel. He adapted like a professional getting paid thousands should. Efe's also played in the African Nations cup, league, World Cup and back to league again without stopping. He's dedicated to the cause.

I've just had a few drinks and want to berate Wilson really. He was decent enough while he was here. If Ambrose had left and WIlson stayed then Wilson would be winning this poll.

Efe also played in the Confederations Cup, would be interesting to see the travelling the * done since he joined us.

Came from Israel to Glasgow and since here has ventured to
    First Liberia
    Then Russia
    Then Spain
    Then Portugal
    Then Nigeria
    Then Equatorial Guinea
    Then Gabon
    Then Italy
    Then USA
    Then Kenya
    Then Namibia
    Then Nigeria
    Then Brazil
    Then Germany
    Then Ireland
    Then Sweden
    Then South Africa
    Then Nigeria
    Then Italy
    Then Ethiopia
    Then Netherlands
    Then Spain
    Then Turkey
    Then Nigeria
    Then USA
    Then Brazil
    Then Austria
    Then Germany
    Then Iceland

Thats not including any countries he might have had to fly into to get to some of these places or all the times hes returned to Scotland or any Holidays he's been on to other places. He'll be in Poland soon too which will be atleast the 24th different country he'll have been in the last 2 years, in reality it's probably over 30 as I imagine he's been in England at some point and probably other African countries having had to fly to them to get flights back here.

    Efe on tour.

Aye, he'd have been in England for the Nigeria Scotland friendly last month.

Never complains about being homesick, just goes on dribbles and does somersaults.

Brazil's about half the size a Europe aswell maybe even bigger, he's played 7 games in Brazil in that time.

Would guess he's probably been on about 100 flights in the last 2 years in about 30-32 different countries.

People always say things like "Imagine kicking a ball about for £10k a week" or whatever. But imagine eating healthily, excercising regularly and travelling through airports all the time for about 15 years solid whilst being called all the names under the sun and unable to walk down streets without people bothering you for photos, autographs or to give you abuse.

Got to admire the likes of Bale, Ronaldo, Messi and others who reach the pinnacle of the game and can keep going year in year out, especially Ronaldo and Bale who look like they excercise day and night and havent ate a bit of grease in a decade, must be like * zombies.

He shocked everyone, but he wanted to move because of his family so you can't knock the guy for that, would have been nice to see what both of them could have been like.

I think we got rid of Wilson at the right time no one can deny that. The guy got injured less than a few weeks after we sold him for £2.5 million and has since had surgery on his back (back problem just don't go away!) and he's played less than 10 games for Forrest since he went back there.

Even if we hadn't sold him we'd probably never have seen him and VVD make a solid CB pair as he'd have been out injured the whole time. Dodged a bullet in my opinion.

If it was a straight toss up between Wilson's second season vs any season of Ambrose's to partner VVD in the center I would go Wilson. Ambrose can be a liability, Wilson was solid that year. Should have added Mulgrew to that poll, his year at CB when he won player of the season was as good IMO, haven't seen him get a run of games there since.

I don't disagree with you, just have one small quibble: one hour plus? Plenty of people using public transport have to travel one hour plus to jobs in the same city! I've had several jobs that required about 90 minutes each way (not even including the fact that you had to aim to arrive a bit early because the busses weren't always reliable. Some who commute to London travel well over 2 hours each way.

Nottingham to Glsgiw is a bit much, though. Would be more like 6 hours each way. :smiley-laughing002:

Wilson is the better defender I would say, although personally I would say that both are fairly talented when it comes to defending. Ambrose has grown on me, at first his dribbling and moving forward worried me but once he settled down towards the second half of last season I have to admit that I really like him, but still believe that Wilson is the better CB
