Maybe so Martin at the start but Rangers where there for the taking ,the stats say Rangers won 1-0 but when was the last time you seen Celtic have that amount of possesion football at theirs .

The long ball tactic will never work for celtic i know ,the midfield where a yard of the pace going forward [brown was missed] but i honestly believe the biggest mistake made yesterday was leaving out McCourt ,this guy is unpredictable whers McGeady and Maloney are predictable ,im sure he would have had a lot more joy running straight at defenders.

your first question - He has Naka, McGeady and Maloney in front of him. They are probably the 3 best ball players in the SPL.

2nd question- he is out with a foot operation. Also, watch him closely. He really is not that good.

I like McCourt and talk him up a lot but if people were taken aback by Shaun playing instead of Aidan, what would they have said if both him and Aidan were dropped and McCourt given a debut in a league decider OF game? WGS woud have been crucified.

Celtic havent hit the heights at all this year ,if they went on a run after christmas of say 10 games that league would have been over 2 months ,celtic are better than them ,but for some reason they cannot put 2 games together :50:

They did to us what they did to decent European teams in about 10 UEFA cup ties on the way to the final 11 months ago. Its ugly but it works, even against good teams. People really underestimate Rangers ability to successfully use this tactic and how hard it is to counter.

???? They LET us have possession ! That was their gameplan. We didn't have lots of possession because we were so good, we were * !

The biggest mistake were the crap tactics which played right in to Rangers hands. 2nd biggest leaving out our best player.

    You know nothing about football.

It worked a treat the last time we played the huns. Play to our strengths, not Rangers'.

Think it all boils down to WGS got it right, we just didn't have the quality up front to finish them. Vennegoor offered almost nothing apart from 2 decent header half-chances.

    So in order of failures:

    1) WGS for not putting them to bed in previous matches.
    2) The board for not getting us a better striker in the past 2 windows.

The only question in my mind is whether another manager could have done any better under the circumstances, and unfortunately I'm going to say no they wouldn't. And another thing - is 4 in a row the only acceptable standard for managers now? Is our standards too high? What sticks in my throat is that Rangers this season have been there to be murdered, so my heads all a mess right now, especially with this * hangover.

we were about to win the league last winter, had a gap of 7 (!) points and now we are behind that mob. do you really think there was no way we could have avoided that? I don't only blame WGS for that, but he has to take responsibility for it too. we have the best manager, players, management etc.

I can't help myself but if we gonna lose the league it's one of the biggest failure I have ever witnessed.

    How is it his fault?

We failed to create any clear cut chances. Strachan can't run on the park and make his creative players create. If they fail to perform on the day, what the * can Strachan do?!

It's not just about yesterday. We've only one 2 away games this year - an absolutely abysmal record. The buck stops with the manager.

The manager picks the team he expects to win. And every team he's picked are more than good enough to beat the opposition.

It's the players who have been going out and failing to perform to the level they are capable of. The manager can only do so much, at the end of the day it's the players who need to get it right.

The tactics were wrong mate. We seemed content to lump it in for JVOH (when Naka eventually got one past the first defender) when we should have used our superior skills on the deck to play through them and turn them. Remember they had a 39 year-old at CB and a 36(?) year old Dailly at RB. High balls suit them to a 'T'.

We had around 70% of the possession, the majority of it in their half. We tried the direct route at times but most of the game we had the ball in our possession.

The problem was we couldn't do * all with it, and the fault lies with the players who are tasked with doing that.

We did have 70% possession (in the 2nd half), but that was because they allowed us the possession as all we were doing with it was launching.

It was clear to me that our tactic was the long ball, especially in the first half.

If players don't perform, it's the manager who gets sacked.
