This and the general pandering to Dublin. The GAA changed their plans to make Croke Park an all seater stadium soley to keep the hill for the Dublin fans. This wold be ok were it not reserved for Dublin fans any time Dublin is playing. The terraced area should be for all

We wanted to keep the hill, so what? You lot would rather have a historical part of our stadium ripped out so you can seat down and eat your prawn(hang) sambos in silence?

You do know what the hill was built from?:50:

Enough of your jibber jabber, we all know the west brit media think they are owed the sam every year. You have had a decent team for a 3 or 4 years but give it another year or two and you will be back in obscurity where you belong:bbpd:

It's been rebuilt over the years already so what was different that time? Could have transformed it the way Dortmund have done in Germany.

Supposedly built from O'Connell street but never been proven

The original name came from a hill in Gallipoli on which members of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers suffered heavy casualties in 1915. The 1916 was a rumour to disguise this fact. The rest of Croke Park is more historical than the hill. Was * Sunday not historical? Judging from your comments this bears little historical significance.

The hill is virtually soley for Dublin use when they are playing as we are constantly reminded by TV commentators. Typical RTE comment would be "the hill will like that" or "that wont go down well in the hill". What do you think they mean by these statements?

:56:You really are bitter and twisted.. So you would have hill 16 one of the most famous terraces in the world knocked cause some commentators refer to it as Dublins hill.

First it was because the Hill was "Dublin only", you were proved wrong now it's because RTE commentators refer to it in reference to the Dubs... Some serious back tracking there lad...

I presume you have evidence or a link about this Royal Dublin fusiliers cover up???

The fact that Dubs get the Hill is quite obvious to people who are not consumed by hate. The fact that Dublin have the biggest following by a country mile makes sense to house them in the hill... or maybe the GAA should give it to Louth or Wexford when we play them? :smiley-laughing002:

The Hill is here to stay so stick it up your * and no crying and * from you is going to change that :bbpd:

The queen might well be interested in the early history of that part of the ground because it illustrates how the precise history of these two islands’ relationship is sometimes glossed over. Hill 16 was originally named “Hill 60” after the site of a battle fought over the course of a week during the Gallipoli campaign of 1915. At that time, the corner of Croke Park was being built up to provide a better viewing point for spectators. Some Dublin wag named it after the battle that was being reported on. It continued to be known as Hill 60 until after the Civil War when, in a new nationalist Ireland, a more suitable name, “Hill 16” was adopted, as was the dubious ex-post facto rationale that rubble created by the 1916 Rising had been used. However, the majority, if not all, of the hill, had been built up in 1915.

So the hill is not Dublin only yet you then go on to state why Dublin get the hill. In all your bitterness you have confused yourself. Does that posted image not show an exclusive Dublin support on the hill.

One of the most famous terraces in the world:56::56::56::56:
