I don't care how bad the football is, I'd rather be watching it live than hurling. Much more of a team game.

Balls, if any team in football had the sort of success Kilkenny had they would struggle to attract tens of thousands to every final.

Just getting in to Gaelic, who's the best teams football and hurling to fallow. Don't mean the best at the sport but the closest to our 'Celtic' culture. My Family are from Carnlough in Antrim but know nothing about GAA at club level.

Only really county stuff I'm getting on skysports. Is Ulster okay to support or is there a religious/political culture with in them I should be aware of? Do Setanta/premier sports show games at club level?

The gaa is kinda like celtic nowadays trying to get rid of the whole republican culture which most members are but I've never heard of religion been mentioned in Gaelic and only tg4 get the club championship

    Yeah Antrim have a team.

tg4 can be got on sky tv i think.

There are 4 provinces in Ireland,at all-Ireland every County is trying to win it:50:

Just so you don't think only Ulster are competing.

Although every province does have its own Title to be won, before it moves onto the all Ireland 1/4,1/2, and Finals.

Try and get into it,brilliant sport.

Am up on the political geography of Ireland, especially with the game I had to play attaining an Irish passport with Ulster parents and being born in Scotland. Gaa is alien to me tho. How are province and county teams picked? Is it the same as international football?

It's a republican sport nearly all clubs are named after dead republicans the sam maguire (the big cup)was named after the man who recruited Michel Collins into the irb the provincial teams aren't important at all and there's talk of just abandoning the whole thing to play for a county you must be from that county and play for a club in that county (unless your Seanny Johnston)and there is an all-irish team who plays against Austrailia every year in ulster there is 9 teams it's an all-Ireland sport

How do they arrive at 9 provincial teams tho? This is why I got confused between county and all Ireland. I know I'm sounding ridiculous.... Like ma missisus and football.
