Can't believe how bad he was. One of the worst RB performances in such a big game. Nothing came off for him. Could have been hooked along with Kuhn at half time.

What made it worse was the fact we'd clearly worked in the week to target the huns left hand side of Yilmaz and dragging Balogun over. Yet our 2 on the right decided to no want to play/have their worst game in a Celtic jersey..

We have jota who can rip anyone apart.. and went down the right * wing for 80% of the time by 35mins. No wonder we were honking in the first half. When we finally let jota play we improved massively.

Defender Alistair Johnston insists he doesn't feel it is time to leave Celtic amid murmurs over his future.

The Canada international has been among the top performers for the Scottish Premiership leaders this season with the Hoops' surging towards another Treble.

He has made his mark on the Champions League this term - playing a key role for Brendan Rodgers' side as they pushed Bayern Munich all the way in the play-off round after emerging from the league phase.

The 26-year-old has made the right-back slot at Celtic his own since arriving from CF Montreal in 2022 - and speculation has now started to build over his long-term future in Glasgow's east end.

Reports south of the border have suggested that Premier League sides Fulham and Ipswich Town have been keeping tabs on Johnston - with the defender also said to be on Inter's summer shortlist of targets they want to take to Milan.

International boss Jesse Marsch has also hinted that he would like to see the defender move away from Scotland.

The former Leeds United boss commented last month: "There are some weeks when I watch Alistair and I think… the games are too easy for him. At some point, players do need to be challenged in a bigger way.”

But Johnston - who is contracted until 2029 - insists he is settled on Scottish shores with his fiancée Peyton Pesavento and dog Salem

He told The Guardian: “I’m in no rush to take a Scottish dog out of Scotland. That’d be its own challenge.

"I don’t take for granted what an unbelievable opportunity this club has [given me].”

Johnston is set to face Mexico in the Nations League with his national side - but would join up with his national side off the back of derby day defeat to Rangers.

Despite the disappointment, the full-back insists he is relishing the scrutiny that comes with playing in Glasgow.

He said: “That’s the pressure that you need to enjoy. That is the Celtic standard (to win every week). It is taxing mentally but it means so much when you’re at a club like that.

"I see what the club means to people. I understand that if I’m a fan of a club like this, what would I like to see from my players?

"I’m honest with my work, defensively love a tackle, love being physical. I’m a bit football mad.

"I love the city. [It’s] the biggest fish bowl in all of Europe. Everyone knows who you are.

"You don’t know if they love you or hate you but you know they know who you are. I’m not famous outside of maybe a 30-mile radius of Glasgow city centre … but what a radius.”

He must have forgot those bits about "loving a tackle" and "being physical" on Sunday. Probably his worst performance but he wasn't alone in the aspect

Every player has a mare now and again. As angry as I was in the immediate aftermath.

The fact his has came so long after signing shows how consistent he has been.

In contrast Tavernier had a better game at RB for them. Doesn't mean I'd swap. I bet you they would, though.

Aye, he's been incredibly consistent this season, especially in Europe, I thought he was excellent against Bayern.

I do think his worst games this season have came against them though, something he needs to improve on, good attitude for him to say he's not planning on leaving, as despite those performances he's done more than enough to earn a move.

He's had some really dodgy games this year along with his best performances too.

Early season he was poor in all honesty. Think he might be in MIB the way people forget his bad games.

I’m absolutely ok with his absolute pish display, because a lot of it was down to him showing for the ball, trying to be brave, having no option in Kuhn ahead of him hiding, the ball to Engels the same. McCowan was headless chicken working hard but uselessly so.

And he utterly spiralled due to it. He should have been subbed for Ralston. Got left exposed out there, and his chance at the end to equalise summed his day up. Was putting himself in the position to be a leader and a difference, and was no where near it.

I don’t know if I’d be as forgiving for that performance if others hiding haven’t made me this angry, because his bravery I wish they had. I can accept a * game, but as long as they are bursting their * anyway, that can happen. Manager left him out there when he should have been off the pitch instead for me

Early season is as immense as he’s ever been in a Celtic strip IMO. I love his attitude but I’ve been one that have highlighted I think he has had an easy ride of it sometimes due to that, but from start of this season, until Sunday, he’s been right up there for me. Maeda has ran away PotY now, Kuhn was looking that way. But AJ and Kaspar I would have up there on the other side of the pitch. AJ both infact.

He was really poor against the Huns in the cup final - just to pick out another game and definitely poor early season.

Definite memory lapses with Johnston. Go back through this thread for more examples, although unlike Taylor/Scales they aren't always raised. He's also played his best games for us this season no doubt.

I like the fella and his supposedly 'Dark Arts' (you gotta love the smsm and their J K Rowling reporting...not). Like most players in the 'Derby against the Dark Demons', they had spells in the game that would have had Professor 'Snape' dishing out extra homework in his 'Defence against the Dark art' classes. We were 'athleticus patheticus' in the first half but showed some 'firerious desirerious' in the second until that dreadful 'destructus phucktus' moment. Seeing the 'dementor's' abysmal reaction and behaviour that followed from that, would have him.
Usually he's pretty reliable though. One of the player's that is proud to were the jersey and realises how fortunate he is having that opportunity. He'll be back to 'stupendous defendus' tackling and his 'persisticus assisticus' link up play.
It's only 'pospone-nus champi-onus' for a short while. We'll hopefully not Hufflepuff at Ibrokes , we'll rave 'n' claw our way to victory, show them the grrr-ffing door and leave slytherin snivelin'. "Defeatus Compleatus" :57:

He was unlucky at their 3rd. On another day his tackle bounces away for a corner
