New Celtic bid on Finnbogason: 6 million

    Posted: 26 minutes ago | 0 comments
Celtic want to make serious work of Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason. Earlier, the club did an insulting bid of only 2.5 million on the Islander, according to the Daily Record, the club now made an offer of about six million. On behalf of Celtic there was a scout present in Breda, last Saturday, to see if the striker is a reinforcement for the Champions League participant.
Both Sporre as Van Basten have already indicated that Finnbogason basically can not leave. It is in line with expectations that the club also will not accept this.

If the club wont accept that offer, i hope they go bust. If you cant pay your debts, sell off some of your stuff to afford the payment! Thats what i would need to do if i got in economic troubles!

I thought the club were saying they had to sell him if this sort of cash came in to cover their debts?

Really hope we haven't just put in a below par bid so the club club can tell us we "tried our best"...

Hopefully get him signed up today, surely they can't refuse that sort of money considering there situation.

Heerenveen want a big fee for Celtic target Alfred Finnbogason.
    By Pete O'Rourke - Follow me: @skysportspeteo. Last Updated: August 12, 2013 9:02am

Celtic have been warned it will take a big fee to persuade Heerenveen to sell Alfred Finnbogason.

Scottish champions Celtic are thought to be weighing up a move for Finnbogason as they look to bring in a striker to help fill the void left by Gary Hooper's departure to Norwich.

Celtic are thought to have watched Finnbogason score in Heerenveen's 2-0 win over NAC Breda on Saturday, while a number of other clubs are also thought to be keeping tabs on the Icelandic international.

Heerenveen sporting director Gaston Sporre admits they will listen to offers for Finnbogason, but that it would have to be a big fee to sell him.

"He's good for at least 20 goals a season for us and we won't sell him for a reduced fee," said Sporre.

"If we get a concrete offer for him we will negotiate, but our aim is to keep him here at Heerenveen. He hasn't told us he is unhappy or asked for a transfer. We will wait and see."

Heereveen coach Marco van Basten also claimed it would take a lot of money to prise Finnbogason away from the club.

"I do not want to sell him but I know my place and I know I am not the boss at Heerenveen," said Van Basten.

"If some club comes in with a large offer, there is nothing I can do.

"He's so important to this club on and off the pitch, so if clubs want to buy him, they will have to throw a lot of money at us."

We do not have any debts. We will however have a few million less incoming then there will be going out this season. We still have some savings, that will cover the gap.

We do not need to sell him and he is to important for us. I was one of the people who said that 4,5 would be enough. But i was wrong. The new board will only sell him if the money is really good. I don't think he will leave for less the 8 million Euro's.

Wow, what a freekick, don't tell to many people about it or we'll make a joint bid for less than either of them are worth.
Anyway it sounds like all the noise and interest is from our side and people getting excited, more than there's a realistic chance he's off, hope I'm wrong though.

There is absolutely no reason why Celtic couldn't spend 5m pounds. We got 5m for Hooper who had 1 year left on his contract, and those money SHOULD be reinvested in a new Striker (Finny) to keep the team rolling the cash in. Simple!

Don't see the problem with a £5m fee, it would be like swapping Hooper with one year left on his contract for Finn on say a 3 year contract, that's great business.
