I suspect if he is going to sign itl happen over the next few days. So im given myself until monday to see if he signs, if not then i will be crying in a corner for the next 6 months.

 

Really hope there is some news soon, no doubt Lennon on Saturday will be saying in interview, "we are trying really hard to do something, we want to bring in 2 or 3 players if we can, but it's not easy", ie the same old banter. In the meantime other former hopefuls are doing well, eg Juan Agudelo, who was at Celtic for a trial and now just moved atto, i think, Sunderland and scored a hatrick last night for USA away at Bosnia, who are top of their World Cup group !!!

 

Was Jozy Altidore who scored the hattrick mate. Agudelo is going to Stoke in January.

I think altidore is someone we could have gone in for before Sunderland snapped him up. Always thought he looked as if he could be a quality player

Since Celtic only offered 2,5 million Euro's for Finn, i don't think they would be able to pay the 10 million that Sunderland payed for Altidore.

News here in Heerenveen is, that Finnbogason will sign a new contract if he won't find a new club this transfer-window. The chairman was interviewed shortly this morning by a local radio station. He seemed to be telling the truth, by saying that they really want big money for Alfred. They want him to stay, so they are asking the maximum price.

In an interview with the biggest Dutch football magazine, he said he folded a paper airplane of the bid that Celtic made. The bid was so low, that they laughed about it. He also said that Celtic gave them a 2 day deadline to decide. (They only needed 2 seconds to decide).

So that is how serious Celtic is about Finn. As i said earlier, you can close this topic. Celtic won't buy him.

We could have got him for half that last season instead of bringing in miku and lassad.

2.5mil euros may have been an opening bid for finnbo (most teams are always going to test the water with a bid lower than what they expect the selling team might want) however we have made another bid for at least around 3.75mil euros. Anyway, for a player that couldn't score against the Faroe Islands in an hour of playing time, I'm starting to wonder if he is worth more than our opening bid. Alfonso Alves scored 45 in 39 games for Heerenveen and moved to Middlesbrough for something like 20mil euros....nuff said

 

Ruud Van Nistelrooy only scored 13 in 31 for Heerenveen and signed for pSv for €6 million. So your point?

I thought my point was pretty clear....just because someone has had a prolific season in the Dutch league and a youtube video to show their best goals/skills etc doesn't necessarily mean their going to be * hot. You've kind of also helped make my point too in that even if a striker doesn't have a prolific return rate, doesn't mean they couldn't be great

Some people have dismissed plenty of potential targets on the basis of their return rate not being good enough, I think your comment would be better directed at them
