Peoples opinion isn't just based from youtube videos. He scored 27 goals in Eredevise last year which is a pretty good league after all. The fact that he's "only" 24 makes him a good investment because we probably can get more money if he performs and he still won't be old.

At Lokeren he never got a chance as a striker. They used him as a left winger:31: He only played a few games as a striker, when their nr. 1 striker was injured. Their mistake:smiley-laughing002: Their fans really wanted him to get a chance, and they were pretty * of when he was allowed to move to us (Heerenveen)

    * i'm afraid he won't be going to Scotland. Heerenveen and Finn's agent will talk about his situation. Heerenveen wants to update his salary, so he will agree with staying another season. The club and Marco van Basten really want him to stay, and they will do everything to keep him in Heerenveen. Clubs who want him, really will have to pay between 9 and 10 million Euro's.

Celtic seems to have offered 2,5 million Euro's, so that's not even close. I think this topic can be closed. I'm sorry for u guys, * i'm happy to hear that he will probably remain our striker for a year.

I think we've all got carried away by the excitement in this thread. If they really want around 10 million euros, we have to give up on this one.

Our absolute limit is £5 million and even though "we have the money", we've got to this healthy position by not splashing out over the odds when we have an excellent scouting system that can unearth quality players for smaller fees.

That said, we do need a quality striker and I hope we are looking at targets of Finbo's quality. Kevin Doyle or Billy Sharp are back up strikers, I'd really see no point in using our cash on fees and contracts for players who won't improve the team

I smell bullshit. More likely a hun than a heerenveen fan. He may or may not be going to Celtic, but if he's any good at all he wont be staying with no mark heerenveen:56:

    5 facts about the main man;

    1) Interestingly, if Finnbogason was to make a Scottish move, it would not be his first time living in the country.
His father studied at Edinburgh University when he was a child and he spent a year living in the UK - playing for Hutchison Vale. Hutchie have a reputation similar to the Wallsend Boys Club or Senrab in Scotland - with the likes of Gary Naysmith, Alan McGregor, Danny Wilson, Leigh Griffiths and the Caldwell brothers all playing for the club.
During his time in the Scottish capital Finnbogason became a Hibernian fan - an affection that continues to this day.
    2) As a youngster at Icelandic club Breidablik he played with several future Iceland stars. The likes of Tottenham’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and AZ Alkmaar stars Johann Gudmondsson and Aron Johannsson were both on the books at the same time as Finny.
    3) It was actually on a loan spell, from an unsuccessful stint with Belgian side Lokeren, which earned him his move to Heerenveen last summer.
During his six-month loan period with Helsinborgs IF in Sweden he completed a magnificent feat. In one game against Slask Wroclaw in the Europa League he scored one and made five assists in a 6-1 aggregate win against the side.
    4) This is also not the first time he has had the chance to join a British club. In 2009 he went on trial with English side Blackpool.
    5) His current manager in Holland is Dutch legend Marco van Basten - who recently compared him to Ruud van Nistelrooy, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

How can they update his salary if they have no money? They're making a loss every week.

If anyone thinks we're going to land a player of this ability for less than €5 million then they're deluded. If we want a quality forward to play in the Champions League, we have to pay.

I don't think we will though. As long as we get to the Champions League group stages and the PLC can pocket some more cash, that's all that matters.

LOL... considering the amount of utter gibberish spewed by the average fitba fan (myself included), then I for one am glad that the club don't listen to us!

Listen, no-one had heard of this guy a few weeks back. We've whipped ourselves into a frenzy over him and the hyperbole surrounding him being the next big thing is just getting silly now! If he was truly THAT much of an enticing prospect, then more clubs would be sniffing around him.

Yes, he looks handy on the YouTube clips, but anything over £5 million is an outrageous gamble. It could work... but it could also be a mighty * disaster of the Rafael Scheidt magnatude.

Thankfully, these are the decisions that the businessmen at our our club are paid handsomely to make. Here's a novel idea... why don't we let them do their * job and lay off the childish, petted-lip girning about them being penny-pinchers who are out to * the fans off. It's getting super-* boring now! :50:

I agree with scootz . Supporters heart rules their heads. Peter lawell and the rest of the board are shrewd bussinessnen and like it ir not football is a buisness these days. Mass hysteria in the past over players we Must Sign then you never hear of them again. Trust in the board to know what's best for the club in the long run;-)

It's worth remembering that the boards main responsibility is to their shareholders, so their main concern is ensuring that we spend as little as possible and bring in as much as possible.

I know football is a business, but only to a degree. I don't know of many companies such as IBM who have a fan base, do you?

As I said before, it wouldn't surprise me if the men upstairs consider reaching the group stages of the Champions League as job done. The league is a formality, so we don't have to strengthen for that.

You (and a few others) don't understand the financial situation. I explained it e few times before here, but that might go lost, considering all the pages of this topic.

Yes, this season our income will be less than what we will be spending. This does not mean the club has debts. We have 9 million left in reserve.

So, it's not like we can't pay Finn more money, we can. However, it will mean that the gap between income and expenses will get a bit bigger. The thought is that another good season of Finn (his start is promising) will only increase his value. So he can be important to us one more season, and we will sell him for even more money.

In total Guidetti produced 20 goals and eight assists in 23 games for Feyenoord during this loan spell plus an additional 2 goals and 1 assist in 67 mins vs in form Champion League performers Basel in January 2012, totaling an amazing 22 in 24 with 9 assists for the debut season.
