Taken there is some madness....but this is talkceltic after all. The pressure and heat on this thread is symptomatic of what fans feel...they see that there may be some dragging the heels and that old tight * mentality.

But to go saying that we should not spend 5 mill on a player...and that anyone who says so is a loon is balls. If you cant express yer passion to sign a gem of a player in the Transfer section on forums without being called a flake...then where?

Seen elsewhere that, apparently, Heerenveen have released a statement suggesting we have bid £4.1m but they won't entertain anything under £5.3m...

Searched the Heerenveen website and nothing there...have asked for a source and will post if I get anything!

If true I'd go back with £4.7m initially - meet them halfway and show them respect, as opposed to doing an arsenal and offering an extra £1!!!

If they decline again, and if the club still believe it's the right player, right price, etc then up it again - either way I'd move quickly enough before someone else snaps him up!

After all, it's not often we do the gazumping!!!

If they're looking for £5.3m then £5m should do it...Just watching his videos and looking at his scoring record, I think this guy could be better than Hooper....Just scrutinised a re run of the Juve game and can say that Hooper couldn't even kick his own *

 

At the end of the day if the guy isn't interested or it spirals out of control in terms of price then fine....but as it stands none of that has been confirmed. He looks available and affordable. ...get it done.

 

Oh aye, I reckon he'd be a far superior player to Hooper. Looks like he can score all sorts of goals, unlike Hooper.

Theyve already said it. 5,6 is not enough. With Milan interested its probably up to 9, 10 mil by now, at the very least.

I am sure that the club has counted this as a loss and moved on to other prospects.

Didnt you see Marco Van Bastens comments? He said it would take a lot of money and a lot more than Celtic have already offered. Laugh all you want. And any time big names like AC Milan come up it spikes the transfer fee. Every time.

 

Clubs never get anywhere near that amount of money though, just look at wanyama. Arsenal became interested and Lennon said we wanted £25m for him but we only go half that.

 

It was still no small sum of money. I think he was worth 25 million, absolutely I do. But I am sure that the Arsenal scouts still considered Wanyama to be more of a prospect, than a proven player for them. Its just the SPL stigma. Not as good as England blah blah blah. Gary Hooper was worth more than he was sold for too, but again, that SPL stigma I am sure played a part in us parting with Gary for the fee that we did. The Dutch league also has a "mickey mouse" league stigma attached to it, but I think most still rate it over the SPL. Also, good strikers are just really hard to come by in today's market. I think that they are pricing up finnbogason's transfer fee, more than anything else, because they don't want to lose him. He seems an outstanding striker and I certainly understand that. They rely on him for his goals, he is a wonder machine. I really hope we land him. But Im not holding my breathe. I am going to be furious though if this transfer window shuts and we haven't fixed the defence or brought in anyone with any credentials up front.
