Sport Club Internacional announces that it has concluded negotiations with Celtic Football Club for the permanent signing of left-back Alexandro Bernabei. The athlete, who stood out in the 2024 season, has signed a contract valid until December 2028.

Bernabei arrived at Internacional in March 2024, on loan, and became a key player in the team, contributing to the team's recovery in the second half of the year. In the Brazilian Championship, he played 23 matches, scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists, a performance that earned him the award for best left-back in the competition.

“I am very happy here, and so is my family. I want to continue giving my best to help Inter achieve great results. I know how big and important it is to wear this shirt. Now, I have to continue seeking the best achievements together with my teammates and our fans,” said the player.

With Bernabei staying, Internacional reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a solid base in the squad, betting on the continuity of key players and reinforcing the group specifically for the 2025 season. The Club's strategy is to ensure a competitive team, which can achieve great results and provide much joy to the Colorado fans this season.

All things considered, this has worked out pretty well for all concerned and can finally close the book on this.

Report in the Herald claiming a deal worth £4.5m for Celtic. TBH, I would genuinely be amazed if it were anything like that, but even at half the amount would not be complaining at all.

    Best of luck, AB.

Delighted for him but mostly us.

£5m for a player who never once looked like he could cut it here.

    A profit.

  15. Sevilla linked with a move for him in the Spanish media. Celtic have a 15% sell on clause also.

Since the middle of last season, when Roger Machado took over the team from Eduardo Coudet, one player has gained great prominence wearing the Internacional shirt . It is left back Alexandro Bernabei, who was elected the best player in his position in last year's Brasileirão.

The Argentine's great performance resulted in a financial move from Colorado at the start of the season. The People's Club agreed to pay 4.5 million euros (around R$29 million) to Celtic, from Scotland, to keep the full-back, who signed a contract until December 2028.

The defender's performance, however, caught the attention of Sevilla, from Spain. The European team sent a scout to Beira-Rio to watch the match against Juventude, and liked what they saw. Therefore, an offer should reach Internacional, although no official contact has taken place so far.

Colorado, in turn, has already made a decision. As revealed by the portal “GZH”, the People's Club does not intend to negotiate with Alexandro Bernabei, at least not in the mid-season window.

Sevilla are waiting until the end of the European season to present a proposal. As the team is fighting to avoid relegation in the Spanish Championship, the squad will only start to be assembled after the end of the competition.

Waiting to sign players like this is probably why they are threatened with relegation :56:

He'd do reasonably well in La Liga to be fair. Better suited to his style and that.
