Did he not say he didn't want to play there?

I'm sure i read he had stated he didn't want to live there.

‘He’s got another year in him at least. He’s a class act and, even at 37, still very fit. It wasn’t beyond us, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

‘Money was an issue, obviously. I think it appealed to him but I don’t think it’s going to run any further.’

I am going to travel to Sydney right now and intercept Del Piero's arrival and force him to come to Glasgow.

He now has no opinion, he must join us!

It is the only name this summer that I have been even remotely interested in seeing play at paradise. We have been linked with some amount of *.

The fact they've upped their wage offer may be what Lenny was alluding to money-wise I'm thinking. Around £45k a week here it would be, we wouldn't pay that I'm certain, so we probably wouldn't bother making an offer if that was the case.

Aye, looks to me like that's what Lenny meant in his comments someone posted a few moments ago. That Sydney have upped their offer to an extent that we wouldn't bother competing with for him. As much as I want him and am confident he would repay everything in abundance, it is easily understandable why the club wouldn't shell out over £45k a week to even compete with the other clubs involved. Even though his demands where quite reasonable, Sydney are really pushing the boat out to get him, he'd be more stupid not to listen to them if they really want him that much that they are willing to put money he hasn't asked for on the table.

But of course there are some on here who would demand he play for nothing to prove its not all about the money on offer :icon_mrgreen:

I'm gutted I've not fell asleep already. My dreams will now become nightmares thanks to Sydney FC instead of the glorious ADP at Paradise ones I would have had had I not read that Sydney are pushing the boat out :54:

70 k is insane. Not worth it. I'd rather we pulled one of the better strikers out of the championship or something. At least someone better than Russell.

    So we've offered £20K a week, they've offered £45K.

Surprises me we didn't offer him parity with our highest earners - who I think are on 30K?

On that anti-climactic note. It's bedtime for me. Fully expect this thread to be locked by the time I get home tomorrow (I'll be travelling back from Aberdeen at lunchtime). But it was good to dream for a wee while there. My straw is still well and firmly being clutched though... just in case Lenny treats us to a nice surprise on deadline day :icon_mrgreen:

if we offered 30k a week which we should be able to cope with he would come i dont think he really wants to end his career in Sydney im not gonna lie the football they play in australia is not great and i think ADP will take that in to considering and we have champions league this year and i think we can come outa that group :86:

Dont pay him at all just tell him he can keep all the money from his shirt sales and other merchandise or give him a bigger wage of Around 30-40k but make sure its a pay as you play deal
