Sean,I'm just sick of seeing Celtic go for older players who have left their best days behind, which DP certainly has. It's not that I don't think Del Piero is still a good player,or that I don't regard him as a modern football great - he is,undeniably.

I want Celtic to be bringing in young players like Hooper and Wanyama with careers ahead of them, not behind them.

Who would you rather have Del Piero, Bangura or Murphy?

We cannot be worse off by having him in the squad.

Big game experience, mentor for our young team, shirt seller, brings attention to Celtic on a global scale. And a style of play that isn't reliant on excellent speed, fitness etc.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Aye, but other than that extremely long list of perfectly good and valid reasons though?

My answer to that is more youth is not what we need right now. And again, you don't watch Serie A so your basing your opinion on age and not his current ability. He is not Ljungberg or Juninho.

I’d take Cannavaro, Totti and Buffon too BTW.

I agree with you about the OF game, I answered the "lure" question in a previous post though. Aside from Sydney FC, the clubs he's being linked with are us, Sion and Spurs.

Sion could only offer playing next to former international team-mate Gattuso. We can offer CL football. But Spurs, while only offering Europa League football, can offer the EPL. I admitted I don't see him coming here for a variety of reasons. But I just don't agree that we should turn him down for the reasons most in this thread are implying - which I'll say again is based solely on his age and not on his current ability. Which was outstanding for the game time he got last year (and he should have got more if not for the fact they knew he'd be leaving at the end of the season). :50:

Who says there will be no derby game?

We’re a cert to meet them in the Cups.

The draws will be rigged to ensure it.

Alex is a footballing icon and a living legend, this would be a massive coup for us. His footballing brain, composure on the ball and european experience is exactly what we need at the moment. Why the * would people prefer we get henriksen? He will not even reach half the level of him and if he was as big a prospect as has been said then he would be at a better team than Alkmaar. DP played 31 times last season, 21 as sub ok but he maybe cant get the 90 now. He is a true professional aswell, loyal and same sort of attitude as Larsson. His final game for Juve says it all really, got a bad knock to his knee but didn't want to come off straight away and let the fans down. Played on and scored before being substituted and clapped off the park by his teammates, Atalanta players and ref, linesman and 4th official as well as obviously all the fans. True Legend

xavi is 32 as well and looks 22 on the pitch

age means sweet fa to players that are pure class and keep themselves on top form and fitness

I can see us getting them in both.

They might be *. But as the games against Berwick shows… they’ll get plenty of help.

So Del Bhoy is a cert to play in two derby pumpings.

He hardly kicked a ball last season for them mate.

But whenever he did come on he did show that he is still a quality player, even scored a classy goal against Inter towards the end of the season. This is too big an opportunity for Celtic to pass up.

Look how excited and giddy it has us all dreaming about getting this guy who most of us ran around the playground hitting s free kicks thinking we were him. That excitement alone if he actually signed would be worth every penny. :icon_mrgreen:

I know it's very wishful thinking on my part that he really will end up here. But a man can dream

Would love someone to do a mock up of him in a Celtic shirt with Rihanna and Mila Kunis giving him a BJ.

I'll post it to his Twitter.
