Tonev went to Villa for 2.5M last season.
Berget went to Cardiff for 2m in January.

Paul Lambert like to play football the right way so he must have seen something in Tonev.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had Bertget at Molde and thought he was capable of making the move to the EPL, so he must have something to.

I think at least 1 of them will come good for us, if not both.

It's not about that, it's the fact that Celtic were not good enough for him then, why are we suddenly good enough for him now? Because he's been found out as being *, that's why.

If he signs I'll support him as much as any other player in the squad, I'm not saying he won't want to play for us I'm just worried he is gonna use us to get back into the good books at Villa or to get noticed by the English again.

The best than can come of this is your hypothetical situation becomes a reality and the worst we pay a duds wages for 6 months which we do atleast once a season anyway so no real risk :smiley-laughing002:.

Mate if a player with no connection to Celtic gets the choice between a mid level EPL team or Celtic they're pretty much always going to chose England. Unfortunate but true

When did he say they weren't good enough for him?

He chose a team with better wages in a better league? * him then.

You all take these rejections too personally. Lets put you in his shoes:

You recieve an offer from Austria Wein - £15,000/week, possibility of European football, poor league opposition.

Offer from Aston Villa - £30,000/week, no chance of European football, oppertunity to compete against some of the worlds best teams year round.

Easy choice. Its not that they dont like celtic, its that any PL team offers a better package.

From SkySports Transfer Centre at 18:31

'We are hearing reports that Aston Villa winger Aleksandar Tonev is set to leave the Premier League club and is heading north of the border to join Scottish champions Celtic on a season-long loan deal.'

Is it ? I have loads of Villa mates and they all used the word 'garbage' when describing him !? None of them can remember anything positive he did for them ???

Suppose a couple loans will do till we see whether Boe or Jimmy can do a season between them. Ugh.

Are you? Ronny was tracking Tonev? Don't be ridiculous. Actually Lawell has probably signed more players of late than our manager.

I really don't see the problem in letting the scouts choose the players we sign. They specialise in spotting talent where as a manager specialises in coaching, it only makes sense to go about business this way.

I've never seen him but the additions of him and Berget on paper would be uninspiring at best.

Looks like he's got some strike on um, left and right foot, good pace too.

So if we're sticking with a 4231 we now have in behind the striker:

    Forrest Commons Tonev

At least there's pace there, minus Commons of course. Maybe Berget will be rotated with the three of them. Could really be doing with a tall striker with some pace.
