He looks decent, but not an inspiring singing. If we were gonna get a loan in I wish we would have got that fella Djuricic. Or someone at a bit of a higher level. When are we gonna step it up?

Alexsander Tonev will join Celtic on loan from Aston Villa today
The Bulgarian winger joins Craig Gordon and Jo Inge Berget as the Norwegian manager's first recruits, with the club having the option to buy after the year-long loan.

And the Hoops are hoping to add at least one more player before tonight's 11pm registration deadline for the Champions League play-off round.

Tonev was the subject of a £2million bid by the Hoops last summer.

But, after Celtic agreed a deal with his then club, Lech Poznan, in Poland, Aston Villa topped their offer by £500,000 and the 24-year-old chose to accept the chance to move to the Premier League.

Tonev struggled to make any impact as Paul Lambert's side fought relegation, failing to score a single goal, and is now looking to kick-start his career again at Celtic Park.

Quite like this deal to be honest - everyone here had a hard-on about him pre-Villa, and he hasn't suddenly turned utter * just because he failed to settle at Villa.

Happy it's loan with option to buy also. So obviously if it doesn't work out we can cut our losses.

Be nice to bring him in but if he's a winger, who's going to put the ball in the onion bag if he does create chances? Pukki had a good pre-season (against poor teams) but he's not shown that much in the qualifiers.

The other area we need to strengthen is the centre of midfield, almost every game so far, our midfield have been poor, the other team have played through them, putting pressure on the defence and it's been * too so we've conceded goals we shouldn't have.

Major surgery required on this team....

Villa fans are divided over this. Most happy to see the back of him, others want him to stay and develop further. apparently he's too greedy, shot-happy and has literally no brain for the game despite good ability... but some villa fans believe these issues can be coached out of him.

Not too impressed with this myself.

^ Doesn't sound promising does it? I * hate players with ability but with no football brain whatsoever. Really infuriating. Also he's 24 now, not 18 where you can let these things slide..

I'll support him but not happy or excited by this

Like any player the time to judge is after we've seen him play for Celtic. He can't be that much of an unknown or bad player if we were trying to get him last summer and plenty here were hoping that deal went through.

Maybe we would have managed more than 4 shots against legia if the current team were shot happy

I can't believe most of the * being said on here about this guy, you think players don't look into what the fans think of them for a boost of confidence etc, when papers are printed and fans opinions are spoken about it comes from * like this . The guy should be given a fair crack of the whip. So Hooper is * now and you wouldn't have him back purely because he hasn't set the heather on fire at Norwich and never will probably . I know the board don't seem to be backing us greatly but We all have a part to play in restoring a bit of positivity to the players and atmosphere surrounding the club just now could be worse our club could be like them across the city .

Not many players can hit 25-30 yard screamers into the top corner, with both feet.

Way i look at it, Sutton didn't suit the style at Chelsea, moved up here and was absolutely different class. Maybe Tonev had a similar position at Villa. I like the guy's overall style. Two footed players like this are worth mega bucks at the top level, so it's just really about surrounding him with the right players and getting his confidence back.

He's here now so its done. A lot of the trepidation doesn't come from his * season at Villa though, I'm willing to write that off. It's his 11 goals and 8 assists in the 65 starts and 31 sub appearances for his previous two teams. Glad it's a loan deal. Hopefully Ronny can get him right or we ship him out. No harm done really.

Well aye, you can spot at least a couple of slight weaknesses in his game from the video, bit greedy, maybe better decision making. We bits n bobs that can surely be ironed out.

Not the complete player, but he's got the technique, the rest is up to us to develop.

Totally agree mate, the thing that stuck out for me was in the video all the games looked open rather than 10 behind the ball like the SPFL

He seems to look to threaten the goal each time he gets the ball, albeit sometimes from ridiculous distances, but that is something we struggle to do constantly throughout a match like against legia. He also seems to have a bit of pace about him aswell which is another thing that the team is severely lacking going forward, as a lot of people are saying if he can be coached to do the right things he could be a promising addition.
