Obviously not. If it was clear cut he would be sent packing

They are siding with the SFA's verdict. Making the guy out to be innocent based on the word of a corrupt anti-celtic establishment.

As has been pointed out, if this was Larsson, Lubo or another great player for us, would they be saying the same thing ?

I hope when Tonev is leaving Celtic his last match is against the sheeposhaggers and that * Logan is playing.
Tonev then just goes into him and breaks his * legs.

Dont disagree with you Murph. Anyone being called a racist who GENUINELY is not one should defend himself as far as he possibly can. He might be aware of the SFA's attitude towards CFC and that has affected his judgement. I dont know but i stillthink he should state his case as far as possible.
What i was saying earlier is that * Clark Carlisle has jumped on the bandwagon telling Celtic they should be careful about taking the case further as it would damage THEIR reputation. * is he on about? He seems to have accepted Tonevs guilt because the SFA has...because THEY accepted Logans version of events...who happened to be the only (alledged) witness... Bit of a Kangaroo court verdict mate.

    * up totally !!:38:

Someone say something about the SFA's process being watertight? :56: What * planet have you been living on?

Aye, it's a difficult one, because it is only one person's word against another. I said from the start that I felt sorry for whoever the innocent party was, because it was always going to be very hard to prove either way. If Tonev's statement is anything to go by, he seems willing to simply accept this, which seems strange if he knows for a fact he hasn't done anything wrong. Especially on something as big as this. This could have serious consequences for the rest of his footballing career, and I know if it were me, I would be doing all I could to clear my name. For me, if he doesn't want to challenge this any more, then if I'm honest, I would say he was guilty.

Only if Stokes isn't hesitant whilst in front of an Appeals panel

Not necessarily. I would personally but it appears despite the Club being willing to back him he is through with it. That's his decision to make.

That is circumstantial, having the same opinion as someone doesn't automatically mean you are siding with them or their argument. I think Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, so do plenty of huns. I'm not siding with them by holding the same opinion.

I agree with you though, opinions on the player himself are influencing opinion. I personally think Tonev and Celtic should go to the ends of the Earth to highlight how crooked a decision it is and how crooked the SFA are in general. I'm genuinely astonished there isn't widespread condemnation of the decision although I believe that is down to the issue rather than anything else - a false perception that by backing Tonev you are somehow condoning racism. Another pile of nonsense.

I agree with Murphy here. If Tonev is innocent then he should be taking this all the way to clear his name, I'll happily stand shoulder to shoulder with him. However all this chat about "moving on" and becoming "stronger" as a result of this sounds like he is accepting the SFA's charge and something reeks about that.

The club are now basically just backing a guy who was charged with using racist language. That's it. Doesn't matter how * ridiculous the charge is and how they came to the decision, if he doesn't fight it then 'Charged with Racism' is all anyone will remember.

He should be suing the sun as well.

I would be * apoplectic, raging at the stuff being flung at me and wouldn't stop until I got justice.

If he just walks away from this then I'm sorry, that for me is a sign of guilt.

It's probably worth bearing in mind that Tonev will simply be following advice from both the club and his legal representative. If they advise him to simply let it go and move forward, then that's what he'll likely do.

I don't know the ins & outs as far as appeal processes go within the SFA, but you have to think that if either the club or his lawyer thought they could fight it, they would.

The one thing we do know is that there is zero evidence that points to him actually doing this, which is key for me.

As for suing the Sun? Yeah, that's not just something you do on a whim. It's well known that if you go down that road you need to be in it for the long haul (ask Tommy Sheridan what happens when you * with Murdoch's press).

If he went down the CAS route and it was rightly laughed out the building then it would be slam dunk against the sun, or would they be covered under the original ruling?

At least a retraction from them then, after he clears his name.

Would you let this lie if it was being leveled at you, no matter what advice you were getting from anyone else?

The Sun are only reporting the decision reached by the SFA, so they're pretty much covered unfortunately.

If it were me? Who knows? Neither you nor I know the full inside story, do we? We know there isn't any evidence (or else it would have come up by now and been used against him), so the club and his legal team must have weighed up the situation and will go with what they think is the best option.

Is actually for sure that they're dropping the issue?

This is it for me as well. I wouldn't be caring what advice I was getting, if I was being accused of the same thing, it's not as if it's a small matter after all, then I would be doing all in my power to be clearing my name. If I was innocent of course, which after Tonev's statement, I'm not too sure he is.

So, unless he goes against legal advice and the advice of his employers and decides to take on the SFA, The Sun and Rupert Murdoch single-handed we're just going to forget the fact that there's no evidence against the guy and conclude that he's a racist? :97:

If there is no evidence then what possible reason could there be for not pursuing this further, it doesn't make any sense, although...

Is a good point. :smiley-laughing002: Just my interpretation of his statement.

Is there a lawyer in the world who would advise his client not to pursue this further? :smiley-laughing002: You said it yourself there is no evidence. It's a guaranteed payday.

This is how democracy works, innocent until proven guilty. Guilty by default if their is no proof. Where is the law in this? Where is the democracy? It's almost as if the newspapers are the grand jury. The Aberdeen lad can feel the sweet taste of celebrity via another celebrity footballer racism * storm, that even he might be sitting their wondering if Tonev actually said what he thinks he said and laughing about it anyway because he gets celebrity Tweets from footballers who all back the no racism campaign.

They know fine well if evidence was their he'd be out the door.

Regardless, you're never gonna beat the press and it's a boomerang story waiting to happen. That's why i don't think it'll go any further.
