The reports that they accepted £2m from us and £3.5m from them aren't mutually exclusive: they could well both be true. The money men at Villa don't tend to be too savvy - so nothing would surprise me.

Ach well mate - if he wishes to go be relegation fodder in England, so be it.

We'll be too busy competing in the Champions League to give Aleksander Tonev any after thoughts.

That's fair enough, but when you look at what they've achieved in the last few years, and probably as long as a decade it's not particularly impressive. They've been runners ups in cup competitions, and that's about it.

I can't deny that they have had the fair share of success in the past but for a decent length of the they've be incredibly average.

Their employees of Aston and therefore have to have their current employers best interest at heart.

We have to move on. Shame to miss out on him, he looked good but then again you never know.

No doubt NL and co have something up their sleeve.

To the bit in bold: I never suggested otherwise. All I'm saying is I'd have expected better from them than to be so uncreative as to lift our targets rather than scouting out their own.

Secondly, there's no confirmation he's moved to Villa. I still think we've a good chance.

I don't think their waiting around to see who were biding for and then copy us. More likely both clubs have a number of potential transfer targets on a database made by a number of the clubs scouts. The types of players Celtic are looking at will be similar to the players they lower EPL clubs are looking at.

I hope so he looks brilliant but then again Iv only seen YouTube clips.

Anyone here with a good knowledge of the Polish league ?

Apart from getting Benteke for 7m, Westwood for 1m and Lowton for 1.5m ;)

Anyway, I come in peace. A few of you have already seen me around. If anything I'm trying to improve our relations so I'd have no motive to stir stuff. A few observations.

    1) I don't think a professional team would see that another team is in for a player and just randomly bid for them. We might have been pursuing him fot a period of time; who knows.

    2) Lets not devolve this into a slanging match. There's far worse PL teams than us at the moment. We're building a young squad of hard working players and we've played some really dynamic stuff at times. Tonev would fit into that perfectly. He wouldn't just be coming for the money. If you followed our demise under MON (I wouldn't be offended if you didnt) then you'd know that we simply don't offer massive wages anymore.

We'll just have to see and hopefully he's a good transfer for whoever he goes to :)

I don't really see why there's so much hate towards Villa...

If anything, relations between ourselves and AVFC should be better than they have ever been. Petrov was a great player for both clubs, plus the Lambert connection.

Although I would be * off if Tonev chose them over us...
