McGeady overrated it's true , the boy has talent but that's all he has he has ruined his chances of being a excellent player by being loyal to us and staying in the * poor spl ,

Players like ,antonio valencia,Aron Lennon, Ashley young ,James milner , nani, nzogbia , all are better than Mc geady because they play in a higher league week in week out and they work on there game and improve each season these players get better and better unlike mc geady who cant even learn to do the most simple task i dont just blame mc geady i blame our whole set up here and the fact mc geady has never been pushed or challange to work on his game here ,

I started a thread on McGeady just after the Ross County game, and the majority wanted him to go.

He is a 1 trick wonder. For a winger, and creative player, he has a very poor final ball, his shooting is appalling, he very rarely tracks back to help the full back. Je continuously tries to beat 2 and 3 men at a time, then loses the ball, which makes it 2 or 3 vs 1 on the full back, and he stands with his hands on his hips, not bothering about tracking back.

I hope somebody from England is stupid enough to bid silly money for him, because I would take it

Pretty anonymous last night - as was Keane right enough. Didn't matter in the end up though. :celt_2:

I personally feel the lack of creative players in our team, makes Aiden have to work extremely hard. At times, he's the only person in the team trying to create chances - because he never hides. The lack of creative players we have, also ensures that McGeady is doubled up on, game after game.

However, these aren't excuses for his poor final ball and decision making - I really don't know how after all the years at the club, he hasn't improved in these departments.

Personally, I would sell Aiden at a reasonable price only. In my opinion, anything £6m or over for a winger with a rare end product - should be grasped with both hands.

What are his strengths though ?

I have watched him for years but i think he hasn't improved in a while. A simple question that when answered will allow is to form more of a judgement. I think his strengths lie around picking the ball up in the middle of the pitch and driving towards the box- he does have skill but he gets smothered a lot out wide. What do people think ?

I think the same could be said about most of the players though.

He has continually praised for his tracking back all season and his work of the ball last night was second to none.

He may lose the ball now and then but his flaws don't show as much as people would like to believe, He is a whipping boy with the support and people just love to see him slipping up witch is shocking, but I actually thought he wasn't bad last night.

Aye but then you would get people shouting about how he never beat a man all night and how he wasn't trying to be creative. :39:

Especially after him mouthing off to the fans that rightly confronted the team at CP as they came off the bus. Theres no chance hes the dyed in the wool tim he was made out to be - which was the reason he escaped criticism for so long and why many fans automatically took his side against Strachan. Appears to be arrogant and only about number one - Aiden.

But as I said in my previous post on the thead that like Boyd he goes missing in the big games but his influence against other SPL teams makes me want him to stay. After all, thats our bread and butter and what we need to concentrate on for next season at least. We are no where near European competition standard.

Rubbish mate the vast majority took WGS side there, the fans outside CP were a disgrace, and the bit about him being arrogant is hear say.

I agree with the second paragraph though. :icon_mrgreen:

Sorry lads, but i've never seen Aiden McGeady "doubled up" on.

He is man-marked, and then the closest player to him supports the marking player.

If anyone was "doubled up" last night, it was Keane & Fortune.

Beating a man doesn't make you creative mate, in Aidan's case it just makes him a circus act. He doesn't have a footballing brain to match his skill, the player with the best footballing brain in our squad is Maloney, unfortunately he's never fit which is a shame! I see another John Kennedy type thing happening with him.

Yes, and when you have 3/4 ugky huns marking you, it means that you should have 3/4 team mates free. McGreedy doesn't seem to realise that, and only seems interested in passing the ball to Keane, or trying to take on the 3/4 men, and losing it

I love mcgeady got so much talent and a boyhood celtic fan but surely the management team at training should constantly have him working on crossing the ball first time. Nevermind his skill just get him to cross after cross after cross at training and try and get him to get his crosses by the first man.
