I think he was very poor last night. instead of trying to beat the last man he could give a backpass to Naylor who could have crossed many times. Imagine a backpass by McGeady, that would surprise the opponent side so bad that they would concede a goal.

Agreed. Its no coincidence why he is the guy double/treble teamed. He has stagnated over the last 12-18 months, i accept but that is in line with the decline in quality at the club.

This is what the Man Utd team have always done. Your Beckhams, Giggs, Scholes, Butts, Nevilles...all competed in their countries competitions, without ever really going abroad. By the way, did they not turn out half decent?

If you even look at Celtic now there are fewer and fewer home grown talents coming through!!! Also, Celtics youth teams have been playing abroad, and from what I hear have been doing pretty well against their so-called "superiors". You can't say that if the youth teams win leagues and cups it gives no real indication whether they will make the grade or not. Celtic have been living on this basis for the almost the whole of our existence! '67, the Quality Street Gang, then you move to your McClairs, your Nicholas, so on and so forth.

How long ago did those you mention break through at Man Utd and how many of note since? Changing times.

I'm not saying McGeady isn't good enough. I just think he is very over-rated and needs to change some things about his game. If he could start releasing the ball earlier instead of trying to be Jimmy Johnstone, and work on his crossing, then I think he really could be a player. It's not that McGeady is * it's just that he has some really frustrating habits and they are habits he had 4/5 years ago. He doesn't seem to have learned anything or progressed much as a player. It's his lack of development that I find disappointing as much as anything else tbh.

    Of note since? Ok. Ready?

Foster, Fabio and Rafael Di Silva, Nani, Fletcher, Marcheda, Brown, Anderson, Evans (Johnny and Chad), De Laet, O'Shea, Gibson.

And how many of them gained experience from being on loan? Almost all of them, but like I said, we have a daft rule here which states we must have three U21s in the team.

Mate, its not to uncommon for players to peak early....

I dont think he will develop any more at celtic.... I also dont think he is the worse player in the world, but this thread is about McGeady, and he is by far the most hyped player at our club!

If I was him personally, id honestly think about moving on. If he is confident in his ability, like any great player, he'd want to test himself week in week out on the biggest stage..... But has he become to comfortable at Celtic... i Dont know mate!

I was excited when Aiden came through, but since then he has become more and more frustrating, along with the off field antics, Ive thought for a while Id take the cash....As i honestly think he will be found out down South.

For me he hasnt got the physical or mental atributes to cut it in the big league or in the big time, and this has been proven time and time again, when he has failed to deliver against Rangers and in Europe.

Not many of those were at the club from boys though...some bought in who were already playing at their own clubs.

I would give you Gibson as the only real homegrown player to come through in recent times. Oshea has been around for years mate, hes 29 or something.

    His brother.

Not many of Celtics youth teams have "original" players either though. We've brought some players in from other clubs as well remember!!

His brother....when did he break through and whats he done?

Giggs, scholes, Beckham and the neville brothers are the main ones of note i'd say and they were long ago. Fantastic though they were.

It is when comparing it with McGeady and how he came through the YOUTH SYSTEM!!

And if you read back, Roslea and myself were talking about McGeady coming through, our youth system and how we should have it like Man Utd's. Or shouldn't. Whatever.
