think the diffrence was imo he had a free role to link our attack and this is were he is best ,i thought he had his most effective game on sat ,still had the occasional pull your hair out moments , more of a team player is how best i can describe him on sat.

 

I think he is our best player by far but he can,t do it all on his owen

maybe not ,but we have players who should be capable in spl at least and have proved this ,last thing we need is for him to try to do it all himself ,this could even be hampering his development as some have said already he needs to find space and get the head up and pick passes or put strikers in on goal,was pleased for him against st mirren.

 

McGinn obvisoulsy can't play on the left hand side or he would have played the last few games ahead of our CM's that have been playing there, either that or TM doesn't fancy him.

Dont know where you get that idea from, he doesn't play on the left and that is where Maloney is best so how do you work that one out? It would have to be McGeady that McGinn keeps out if anyone, Maloney is better on the left than McGeady.

 

Totally disagree. There were umpteen times that he was standing on the left himself, arms outsrtetched shouting on the ball. The ball never came to him. That cant be blamed on him.

Or wait! Maybe he was like a ghost and the other players couldnt see him! Maybe he took the instruction to terrify other defences too literally and thought if he acted like a ghost it would work for him. He mite not have been shouting on the ball, he mite have been going 'OOHHHHH'. Scary *!!!!

 

By and large, when McGeady's played well this season, so have the rest of the team!

Attitude-Maloney is a model of good temprament and self control. Aidan is a bit of a greetin faced sort who is petulant at times

Overall, I think Maloney has better technique and is a much more intelligent player. A model professional too. His main problem is fitness. I think that has made people forget how good he is when fit and flying. but if he was fit I could see him scoring 12-15 goals a season Aidan is really all about dribbling and running but in other areas his game usually leaves a lot to be desired. In rare games like Saturday he was far better at decision making, picking a good early pass, being a better team player. On days like that you can see he could be a great player. He has improved a lot this season since moving to the right but I think he is still split 50-50 between good and his bad McGreedy games where IMO he damages our game by slowing it down to take on men like some sort of dual instead of picking an early pass. His problems are mainly in his game awareness. The one techique thing that is unacceptable though is his shooting. Its ridiculous for a pro footballer.

Feel this is a wee bit misleading, cos you've taken the things Maloney is good at and split them into several finely-divided categories (e.g. football brain / decisionmaking / pick the right pass) which makes it seem like there's about three times as many things he's good at. Also you don't even mention some important things that Aiden does better - for example first touch, or forward passing from a deeper position.

I do agree that he still has a tendency to focus on his feet and his opponent, and his peripheral vision is not the best. Which disappoints me, cos I'd hoped that under Gordon this would be addressed and come on leaps and bounds.

What i would do - and I realise this may be a controversial opinion :icon_mrgreen: - is fit him oot in training with one of those cone-shaped collars they give to dogs to stop them picking at stitches: so he can't see the ball or his feet. And then, every time his final pass goes to a defender, administer a small electric shock by means of an infra-red remote. I seem to have taken that too far. Not to worry.

 

To be honest, I never understood the competition between Maloney and McGeady. Perhaps that's because I wasn't a Celtic fan when Maloney was first around, I became a fan when McGeady was paired on the wings with Naka. I've heard a lot of people talk about Maloney and how good he was for Celtic before he left, and that now he's not as good as he used to be for us. However, I'd have to say that Maloney is a pretty solid player. I know what to expect from him. However, I feel the same way about McGeady; maybe not about knowing exactly what to expect from him, but I feel that they are both equal. They're good wingers.

 

Yes agree 100% with that mate McGeady's game is all about dribbling and if you take that away he is a pretty average player. Maloney is a superb wee player when he's fit and on form, i like the wee man! I know you will get the people who say "but he hasn't been on form in ages" but Celtic havent been playing well either so he can't work miracles. Would be good to see us get a striker who is on the same wave length as the wee man, he spots runs that no one else in our team can spot.

 

Don't agree with any of that. McGeady's better than Maloney, no doubt about it.

 

So how come McGeady has been on form this season when we've not been playing well? Is he working miracles? McGeady's been our player of the season so far.

 

In every one of those aspets? I dont think so and i dont think many would disagree with me there. You another one of these fans that can't see past McGeady?

 

Well in my opinion, McGeady plays better when Maloney is playing as opposed to a Zheng Zhi or Robson on the other wing, he clearly doesn't trust alot of his team mates and that annoys me about him, he thinks he is better than he really is and i think alot of fans also do.
