Strikes me as lazy journalism, spouting a story they think we want to hear. But if its true, and it's not just letting the player and Everton use us to get him on the transfer window eyeline I'd be happy to do it...

    I'd agree with this.

I'm sick of loan deals tbh.

I can honestly see a loan deal for him to placate the fans, which will be utterly pointless for us.

What could his theme music be?

It should come on randomly during a game, and he runs out through the crowd, and on to the pitch.

Wages would be an issue for a pernament deal.

I've nothing against loans per se, but if there's no option to buy i think they're pointless. imagine we bring him in, spend 2 months getting him fit and he then * off to the Euros and goes for a nice transfer for Evertons benefit... great for player and club, but we're the suckers once again... * that!

I'd honestly rather not take him if it's not permanent. What's the point?

As Saltire said he wont be anywhere near match fit so we spend a month getting him up to speed then he is gone 3 months later and we are back to square one.

Pointless and wont help us at all going into next years qualifiers.

Can definitely see a loan deal for him though, sort of "oh look a squirrel" signing at this difficult time.

I do think he's overrated but he could be what we need out wide.

I guarantee this happens as a loan deal on deadline day til the end of the season . Everton aren't arsed , we can't afford him but he will just use it to get fit/impress for the Euro's.

He'll be 30 come the end of this season and not getting a look in at Everton and honestly think he'd only get a game for someone like Aston Villa, Newcastle or Sunderland who are relegation battlers. Would like to see him sign but honestly could only see it as a loan to try and play his way back into the Irish team and then could see him moving on to a relegation battler or newly promoted club or if not move over to the MLS and top up his pension fund.

he does not ever even make the subs for Everton, it's a shame, a good but over rated talent, just rotting away

Get him signed. He's made a load of money now. Time to enjoy his last year's playing football. Come home.
