Would be a fantastic signing but seems to go against Ronny's plans of trimming the squad. It would render the 2-year extension given to Commons on decent money as a bit of a waste as it'd vastly reduce his playing time surely?

Same could be said of Armstrong/GMS as well.

Personally I think if it wasn't for fan pressure Commons wouldn't have got the new deal and would be on a free by now

Is there any other reason, apart from nostalgia or the fact that he's a club legend or whatever it is, why the majority of people want him back? Because it makes no sense to me. We don't need him, he would probably be the best paid player in the squad and it totally goes against Deila's signing policy. I don't want him back. Thanks for all the memories, but that time is well past and he hasn't gotten any better in the meantime, quite the opposite, actually. If we wanted a winger, who will frustrate the * out of us and show flashes of brilliance every now and then, we should have just offered Sammy a new deal.

I don't think he's got worse, he's just played in stronger leagues. And every winger in the world is frustrating, you can't play in that position and not take risks when your dribbling or changing pace and he can do that better than anyone we have currently

 

Ha, good point I think only he knows that.

My understanding was that he would try to develop younger players whilst keeping a core of more experienced talent.

I also thought i saw people mentioning that he has a tendency to go after players who have loads of talent/potential but things aren't really working out for them (which IMO would fit the bill for mcgeady perfectly).

He knows you need to balance that with experience though, he bought Vidar Riseth at Stormgodset. Think there main striker was also like 35.

A very experienced, hard working 29 year old skilfull winger is right up his street.

 

I'm sorry but if Aiden had never played for celtic and we were being linked with an Everton winger with bags of international and European experience, as well as being signed for Spartak for 9mill, that on his day can rip defences apart, we would be absolutely buzzing. And we should be. If a player is achievable and can improve our squad he should be considered. For the figures being mentioned he is achievable and he would improve our squad so it would be a good move. I don't know how true the rumours are, granted, but if there is a possibility to bring him in, I would be happy to.
