Aiden McGeady,Merged.

mcgeady has been the least involvment player in the team for the past 3 years, hees done nothing atol, samaras n fortune score more goals than him, that says it all.

 

Says in the Herald today that McGeady's move to Villa depends on the sale of Milner. MoN to use the income from Milners sale to fund a move for McGeady (and Robbie Keane apparently which would scupper any chance of Keane coming up here again)

I probably agree but with teh over inflated english martket then I think us asking for nearer 10 is forseeable and reasonable. I mean don't Liverpool want about 12m for Ryan Babel and we paid 3m for Loovens. Maybe not great examples but bearing in mind that going past a man is the second most coveted property in a player behind sticking the ball in the back of the net, anything around 8-10m is prob right. I realy hope with the money we can get a top notch striker - even if its only paying for Bellamy's wages the bums on seats it would create would pay for itself.

 

I'm sure they did!! Even though Aiden wouldn't have went i don't see why Celtic would turn down 8m from Moscow then accept an offer for 5m or 6m from Villa. Mind you i would still be plaesed with 6m.

As much as Aiden can be good to watch, he drifts from games and has an awful cross.

I would be more than happy with Lawerance, who after all admitted that he would walk all the way just to be here. While you get the feeling Aiden has his eye on somewhere else which for 6 months to a whole season could be a bit of a burden for the club.

If we got 10m for him, David James, a CB, LB, winger and ST, we could have the grounds for a very impressive, battling squad, with experience and youth. Hopefully the perfect mix

Has anybody missed Mcgeady in the pre-season tour? I havent.

 

Im willing to bet anyone £100 on here that if mc geady goes this year, that he will defo not go for 10mill. Think off all the 10mill players out there and then think of mcgeady. I like the guy because hes one of us and i no he gets a hard timeof it in the spl with 2 players sticking to him most of the time but he's not worth 10mill. Id take 6 for him

 

In fairness it didn't say Milner was on his way to Man City.....It said O'Neil had agreed to let him go IF Man City increased their offer considerably above the £20m Villa have already knocked back.

 

I was thinking this when I woke up this morning, I don't think we've missed him at all really, assuming nobody else gets punted we have a lot of varied options in midfield, I don't think him leaving would be that big a loss now, especially for the money quoted (but I don't think we'll get quite that much).

 

The Thing about this that doesn't add up however is. Milner Has been playing down the centre for Villa last season. Unless Martin is Planning on converting Aiden to a Cm (which is more than possible). I don't see Aiden being a direct replacement for Milner.

 

i would sell take the money and run , get two or three class players with the money , we did not miss him on tour , any way could paddy be the man , on tour he has being brill got two 80 mins plus in games , maybe just maybe celtic are getting on top of paddys fitness problems , and the sky could be the limit for paddy this year.

 

If nobody Bids the amount we want from him he will not leave simple as that if he stays great we have a good player still on our books , if Aston Villa are looking at 25 million for a decent not top class player we are more than entitled to look at 10 million for Mcgeady

Lennon has come out and said the only way he will be sold is if we get an unbelievable offer and 6-9m is not in that bracket.

 

£10 million or he stay's. We could use the money to add some quality but if not we keep Aiden a very good player.

 

I think Lenny has handled the situation well, hasn't panicked and make it clear that he is staying but also has made sure teams know that he isn't going to sold cheaply.

As much as I'd love to take the money and run, doesn't anyone wonder why Villa would want to bid £10m for a player who isn't as good as Young, Milner or Downing?
