This boy was excellent in Holland against AZ a couple of weeks ago and why he isn't our 1st choice left back is a strange one. Far superior to Taylor and the fact he's come through the ranks means the fans will definitely give him their full backing.

Another one I caught a few glimpses of. He's looking like a big big talent, really hope he gets a run in the team. Almost Tierney-esque in flashes. Exciting.

This for me he looks to have what we need at full back, solid enough defensively, good on the ball and a threat in the final third with has dribbling, crossing and running.

Taylor is average at best and we know what we are getting it’s time for Montgomery to be given a go.

With Taylor injured again this is his chance to cement his place in the team.

He should have started today. Ange needs to start him ahead of Taylor.

This boy has lots of potential. Looks composed on the ball, has a decent pass and can tackle. He’s a right good understudy to Taylor who, to many, has become a bit of a whipping bhoy. If Scales can each these levels will are fine at LB.

Classic case of a homegrown player v a player that comes in with a hefty fee, bit like Welsh and AR also.

Looks comfortable with the ball. A few nice moves under pressure. A confident young player who should be getting more game time.

Has the potential. No doubt there will be errors/ mistakes in his game but how he handles that and any criticism will show us whether he can fulfill that early potential.

Driving me mad that he's so obviously better than Taylor yet we still persist with him. The guy seems an automatic first pick if he's fit.

Massive potential, only criticism is that as he is so good at running with the ball and taking players on he seems to bypass the player at LW position, he needs to learn to involve the winger more. He seems tailor made for LB under Ange

He's really a LW so will take time to adapt to LB..

Big chance on Thursday, we may see how good he is.

With every passing game he is getting stronger, proving that he should be given a run out ahead of Taylor.

Miles better than Taylor. Would like to see Scales in that position, and if he's good it should be between the two of them for the left back slot.

He was our best player yesterday and only came on as a sub lol everyone else was slack and their finishing and passing was off, he came on and was skinning * and just playing a level above everyone else.

Starting to look really good, nice slick left foot also. Not a natural full-back but the more he develops over the next couple of years he could be quality as not many full-backs are as skilled on the ball or as capable dribblers as him. Most full-backs it seem end up there because they dont have that ability to play on the wing.

Yeah he's very impressive. Might not be a natural full back but he showed up very well against AZ when doing his defensive duties. I'm far more confident with him playing than Taylor and going forward there is zero debate on who gives us more. Its a no brainer, I can't understand why Taylor still gets the nod.

I think the manager likes Taylor though and will probably continue to be happy playing him although i'd like to see more of Montgomery. To be fair to Taylor even though he is limited on the ball, he is a smart player and his positioning and movement is really good in defence and attack its better than Montgomery, Ralston and probably even Juranovic. He is always in good areas and even though he can't beat a man, lacks real pace and is technically really average a lot of good play still goes through him as he is generally always active and in good areas.
