That's got nothing to do with it.

A good cross is a good cross regardless of how many players in the box. The problem with Izzy is, he either puts too much height and power on it, not enough, or just hits it out of the park.

Nah, not having that either. Lustig's delivery is good but he's not the only player in the team that can consistently do so. Matthews has done so this season, Izzy to a lesser extent and that's not taking into account players like Charlie Mulgrew.

What? If there's more people in the box, there's more targets to hit. Izzy doesn't aim his crosses to players, he sticks them in a dangerous area.

It's why his crosses haven't deteriorated it's just we haven't got the same attacking threat as we have had in every year previous.

It's why we aren't really high scorers this season either. Last couple of years you would have two strikers in the box to hit, Commons and usually Joe Ledley.

This year we're kinda 2 at the most.

Which is why Matthews has been the most succesfully creative fullback this season. He waits and tries to play his man in, rather than just whipping the ball in. Something that Lustig does as well.

Yes I know that. I'm not saying his crosses are bad because he puts it in dangerous areas but nobody is there - I'm saying his crosses are bad because he rarely puts in a dangerous area.

And yet as a full back he's set up the most goals out of any full back we've had since 2000. He's a danger.

His crossing has always been the same. Like I said though, less people in there to get on the end of them now though.

He's also probably put in far more crosses than any other full back since 2000.

For most of his time here, he must put in at least half a dozen crosses every game. You're lucky if two of them are dangerous.

So how exactly does that go against me saying his crossing hasn't deteriorated?

Or that his crossing has always been the same? You've said as much there.

    The part in bold.

The 'less people in there' part is what I don't understand. The number of people doesn't make a difference when Izzy puts it our for a goal kick.

His crossing is poor and always has been.

If it always has been then how has it suddenly deteriorated this season? :56:

My original post you quoted, it was the point I was responding to.

Then you quoted me asking how it goes against it answering with the part in bold?

What else do want from an attacking full back at Celtic? :smiley-laughing002:

You seem to demand perfection from every player or they go on your hit list.

    Never happy.

    I'm * confused.:smiley-laughing002:

Right, I'm saying his crossing hasn't deteriorated because it's always been bad. You seem to be saying it hasn't deteriorated either because there's less people in the box to get on the end of it. Yes?

    Not really demanding perfection though.

What I would like from an attacking full back is someone who can , more times than not, put a decent delivery in to the box.

As a few people have been saying in the Izzy thread, for some reason people don't like the guy being criticised. Got a sort of cult status among many fans because he loves the club. The fact is, we should be looking to get someone better in during summer.

The Izzy of 2010 was a great wee player, but sadly he's nowhere near that level now.

Aye, his crossing is the same as it's always been. He set up more goals the last 4 years because there was more people in there to get on the end of them.

I don't think his crossing is particularly bad. It's decent with some absolute * ones and some belters, his ball for Commons header against Elfsborg was a thing of beauty on his right foot.

The point was though his actual crosses are the exact same. Lustig kept doing it as well last time he played btw, kept putting in some absolutely beautiful crosses but there was no-one there to get on the end of them.

    Fair enough.

He's definitely capable of some cracker but for me he's just too inconsistent. The amount of times he does well to get into a great position then just blooters it over the box is mental.

Confused I am. I thought this was the Adam Matthews thread?

Izzy's crossing can be erratic at times, but he's set up plenty of great goals and does a power of work up the flank. Far more than Matthews, although of late I thought he was playing okay, however he was getting raped up that wing all game.

He does too much checking back and as soon as he decides to put the brakes on thats it, the games a bogey.

One thing I noticed about the game on the weekend is Commons was nailed to the wing, it was stopping a lot of Matthews runs from deep. Unusual from Commons, he usually wanders and plays between the full back and centre back.

Don't know if it was tactical or not.
