It does make sense aye, but the club must know what the fee for negotiating would be. Both sides would know it'd be higher than £4m.

Especially if we're selling Oh for that, and he's contributed less in more time. Just see it as a waste of time. Maybe £5.5m and go from there. Obviously not paying silly money.

Edit: I'm not overly keen for more than 6m, but if it's who the manager wants, we must be serious about backing him.

You’d probably have a longer list if players you want out the door than you would for keeping.

    GK- Hart, Siegrist
    LB- Bernabei, Montgomery
    CB- Kobayashi, Welsh, Lagerbielke
    CM- McCarthy, Holm(loan), Shaw, Kwon
    LW- Haksabanovic, Johnston
    RW- Yang, Tilio
    ST- Oh

16 players there. One has retired, 2 are out on loan, one has been sold and another is close to being sold. That’s a third of the number we need out the door.

I agree that's a good bit of business, however we know Idah is pushing for the move. I wouldn't want us to take that kind of approach and miss out on a player because we wanted money in before making suitable bids when we have so much cash on hand.

I would mainly agree with that 16, would keep Holm until at least next window, think him and Lawal would be decent for a bit of game time as development players.
Just dont get this waiting to sell Oh before securing Idah.

I put “(loan)” beside Holm because I do see a future for him here but he needs game time to develop and he’s not going to get that with us. I think Lawal will be a part of the squad moving forward.

As I said, we are probably working in a one in, one out situation right now, simply because of the size of the squad. The 16 above barely contributed, Hart aside. The salaries we will be paying the guys coming in will be significant so I’d assume we are trying to free up space in the squad and on the wage budget. Adam Idah will be on a lot more than Oh when he signs.

I also think it’s about bargaining position. We’ve managed to agree a large fee with Genk, more than we ever thought we would get. We’ve maybe done that off the back of exploiting the fact we have no replacement in the door

Celtic continue to discuss a potential transfer switch for Adam Idah.

We at Football Scotland exclusively revealed to you that the Hoops had a £4million plus add-ons bid rejected by Norwich 11 days ago after the Canaries made it clear they did not want to sell the Irishman. New manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is a big fan of the 23-year-old and is looking forward to working with the player and we understand neither he nor his club's stance have changed on the attacker who scored nine goals for Celts on his loan stint last season

It is understood further conversations have been held between the two clubs as Celtic look to try and get a deal over the line but the Championship side would want a significantly higher fee and no second bid has yet to officially be made

Brendan Rodgers is a major fan of Idah after his spell in Glasgow and has made no secret of his desire to keep the player around

The english market is massively inflated. I'd rather we signed Miovski than overpay for Idah.

I like Miovski but I'm certain Aberdeen would want a similar fee (Around £8 million).

If we can't get Idah in the door, I'd like us to look elsewhere in general.

    Make it happen, Celtic.

Would honestly go up to as much as £10mil for the big man, although obviously we're right to try and get a better deal.

If it's to run on till mid to late August I hope we bring in a 3rd striker soon to help wee Kyogo in the mean time.

If we break our transfer record for Adam Idah then * help us all :giggle1:. I feel like some of his latter performances really masked how much of a donkey he looked in front of goal at times. His all-around game is much better than Oh's for instance but he's never more than a £5m player and if we'd have offered Norwich that before the loan spell they'd have bit our hand off for it.

I don't think we'll need to go that high, just saying that's what I'd pay according to his potential. Think he'll be shoving a lot of words down a lot of throats this year.

A very good deal for all parties for me..

Mikey in an attacking championship side will do plenty. Idah wants away..

They still get what they originally wanted from a loan to buy before us..

I don't think it's an unrealistic bargaining tool at all..

100% agree. A figure no higher than £5m should be at any point discussed, let alone recordbreaking fees.

He'll be worth 20 in a year and a half.
