The Idah situation is the worst case scenario for this Celtic board. It's common knowledge now that the manager wants him, the fans want him and Idah wants the move so it's over to them. We've shown our hand and Norwich are using this to demand a higher fee which will make this board very uncomfortable. If it's not completed it'll be obvious we wouldn't pay the extra to get it done. If that's the case I think it'll have knock on effects for the morale of Rodgers and only add fuel to the fire that we lack ambition as a club.

 

Funny how Norwich are so keen to keep a player they put out on loan only a few months ago as he wasn't getting a game.

The situation is going to become common place when a club becomes well known for hoarding loads of money. Any team with 60 odd million in the bank and wanting to haggle for 5m players are going see prices go up when they come knocking.

 

I really hope we haven't gotten all.purnin eggs in one basket with Idah being the only forward we're after. Takes about a year for us to monitor and male contact with a brand new player.

 

He’s proved himself domestically here, actually think we could get better, but given our scouting we probably wouldn’t. I do like him though.

 

Reportedly offered £4m last week and are reportedly preparing a £6m offer.

Why the * has that taken a week?

Where we hoping Norwich were gonna buckle and accept the £4m or are we away looking down the back of the couches and cashing in gingy bottles to cobble the extra £2m together.

I hate all this 'preparing' a bid nonsense.

Pretty sure official bids are a bit more complicated than popping a text saying "fine I'll give you 6"

Legal jargon, clauses etc all take time. It's not a copy paste job. Let's all get angry n moan though because buying a player must surely be as easy as popping into your local and paying with your card. It littery takes over 3 months to buy a house worth a few hundred grand let alone an asset worth £6m.

 

Nah, not having it takes that long considering players are literally bought on the last few minutes of a transfer window.

 

Just * move on to another target if we are competent enough to have one.

 

We aren't.
We will monitor this one til after the American tour and bid again.
Then monitor til end of August and pay over the odds.

We will not actively pursue another target in any shape or form for ST position til we are beyond any doubt that Idah isn't coming - basically if Norwich tie him to a new deal or another club signs him.

Ok... But you don't actually think people ring up at 11.55pm on a transfer window last day and close deals by midnight, do you? Just because they close at midnight, they take all day and sometimes are only sealed on 'good faith' that these details get closed out in the following hours... It's not a Hollywood movie, where the absolutely unexpected happens in a stunning moment...

 

Yeah, but it doesn't take an age to 'prepare' a bid.

That's my point.

 

Guess everything depends on differing opinions on the term 'age'... I'm betting that every deal takes at least a few solid days of interaction, prior to being made public or after closing in principle.

Absolutely no excuse for almost complete inactivity for about 2 months though, and saying that we need to start all deals from now

 

I think the reality is it’s just all mind games. Don’t get back in touch too quick as we don’t want to seem too keen.
