Oh I'm not panicking yet, albeit we are at the stage where we need to see some movement

It's just a bit disappointing if we've waited weeks and then tabled a bid as low as £4 million. I get testing the waters but that was never getting accepted.

 

Because we are known to increase our bids by adequate and suitable values in next coming offers?
I've a John McGinn story that tells you otherwise.

I'm delighted to finally see some movement.

£4m+ as an opening bid isn't low for us though. What do you think we should have offered then for Idah right out of the bat?

 

maybe because he's Irish thinks the 1st July argument is valid.

We all know final well it'll take at least 2-3 weeks till he comes in, and we'll * about with Bernardo and go quiet then go back to him in weeks times.

As for improving the 1st team, well he was already here so hardly can improve the 1st team, unless your saying he's better than Kyogo, which would be funny.

I know the general go-to is to panic straight away and get out the lynch Peter Lawwell signs, but again as I asked above, what should we have bid for Idah then?

 

Why would or should it ? Not every player we sign is on a free or transfer listed. I understand Norwich have a new manager but that should have zero impact on how we go about our business

 

Ideally close to what Norwich reportedly want for him. I wouldn't be offering the entire £8 million, but if we tabled a bid between £5 and a half million - £6 million, I'd get it.

It's just such a low bid that we surely would have known would never be accepted. There's testing the waters, then there's completely undermining. This is the latter.

 

It does if they've told us not to bother bidding until such a time.

Albeit I'm making assumptions as I've next to * all knowledge of the ins and outs of this transfer. But I'm airing on the side of positivity considering it's a fairly hefty opening bid for us to be making all things considered. Or at least what is being reported.

 

The bid is being reported as £4m+ incentives - so isn't far away from the £5m mark. Football is a negotiating business. If Norwich wanted £8m (per se) and we offered £1.5m, then aye get the lynch rope ready, but it's hardly so lowballing to repulse one.

 

If the chat for the last 6 weeks has any merit to it, about it being 7-9m, then a lot more than 4m as a base offer.

I personally don't think he's worth more than 4m and I'd not sign him if I was in charge. But the fee seemingly quoted is twice what we've offered, knowingly so.

You know fine well we're not gonna pay £9m for Idah, so the smart business is to negotiate. Yes?

We'll get this over the line, and the opening bid (even if it HAS been rejected btw) is a good starter, imo.

 

Next bids 4.2m and a shot of Desmond's golf buggy, knowing us.

I've no faith or evidence that we will increase our bids more in line with what Norwich would be wanting.

Again, I'd not sign him, but if the manager has pinned Idah as the main target and we've been told the fee is 8/9million, then strap in for an extremely long summer on this one. Because our past negotiations are slow, low and drawn out to *.

Can't wait to go back to Norwich with an extra £100k in August.

 

Probably trying to unsettle him so he can escape his Norwich *. Or is it only hun targets that do that

Hard not to be sceptical of us because of our transfer dealings previously, but hey ho. I'm choosing to be optimistic this season.

It's no different to us (for example) waiting until players have come back from the Euros before actively bidding for.

 

That's another myth as well though we signed AJ literally in the middle of the world cup. For me this is no different to any other window at least so far. I'm still of the opinion if the board didn't want to go all in last summer then why would they do anything other than the bare minimum this summer
